Nobody Asked for This… But Everyone Loved It
Forget awkward small talk. This party traded surface conversation for storytelling, humor, and connection.
One of my favorite parts of putting this magazine together is the opportunity to meet and truly get to know the incredible people who make up our community. I had the honor of featuring Suzy and Fernando last fall, and the more I’ve gotten to know them, the more I’ve realized just how much they bring to Agritopia. From their playful and thoughtful holiday decorations to the way they create opportunities for neighbors to connect, they have a gift for turning everyday moments into something memorable. This latest gathering is just another example of their creativity and their heart for bringing people together in meaningful, unexpected ways. Please enjoy the following article from the “Nobody Asked for This” team, because apparently… we all needed this.
The room glowed with soft ambient lighting, the gentle clink of glassware, and the unmistakable buzz of curiosity. Guests gathered with cocktails in hand, laughter already filling the air before the first slide ever appeared on screen. This was no ordinary night out, it was a PowerPoint Party, and it was hosted in unforgettable style by Dr. Suzy Stein and Fernando Perez at their residence.
From the moment attendees arrived, the evening felt thoughtfully curated and effortlessly fun. A bartender crafted signature cocktails and refreshing mocktails that were as creative as the presentations themselves, while a variety of catered bites kept guests mingling and energized. The kind of atmosphere where strangers quickly became collaborators in conversation.
Each speaker delivered wildly entertaining and surprisingly insightful topics, personal passions and dives to humorous life stories.
What truly made the evening shine was the interaction. Friendly conversations sparked. Inside jokes were born in real time. The energy never dipped, it simply shifted from intellectual curiosity to playful banter and back again. It was social, stimulating, and genuinely joyful.
Hosts Suzy and Fernando are no strangers to creating memorable gatherings. The duo also curates the beloved Food and Film Club, known for bringing people together through cinematic storytelling and shared culinary experiences. Their knack for fostering connection was on full display at the PowerPoint Party, every detail designed to make guests feel welcome, inspired, and entertained.
By the end of the night, attendees weren’t just asking for another drink, they were asking about the next presentation theme, the next invite list, and the next date. The consensus was clear: PowerPoint Parties aren’t just events, they’re experiences.
If the laughter, lively debate, and creative spark from this evening are any indication, future gatherings at the Stein-Perez residence will be highly sought-after invitations. For anyone looking to trade small talk for storytelling and passive entertainment for participatory fun, this trendsetting soirée proves one thing: the slideshow has officially had its glow-up.
