How to Enjoy the Holidays and Still Fit Your Jeans

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed, not feared. Between the parties, pies, and packed schedules, a lot of us feel like we’re rolling into the new year instead of walking.

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to be perfect to stay on track. You just need a plan and a little self-compassion.

First, keep it simple. If you can get in just two good workouts a week, you’ll hold onto your strength and your routine. Even short workouts count. The key is not disappearing completely until January.

Second, don’t skip meals to “save up” for a big holiday dinner. That usually ends with you overeating, feeling stuffed, and wondering why you did that again. Instead, eat balanced meals with protein and fiber throughout the day so you’re not starving by the time you get to the buffet.

Move your body in ways that feel good. This could be a strength session, a walk with your family, or stretching while you catch up on movies. Movement helps your mood, digestion, and stress levels.

Most of all, give yourself permission to enjoy the season. A couple of treats or missed workouts won’t ruin anything. What matters most is what you do most of the time.

Stay grounded, stay kind to yourself, and just keep showing up. January will feel a lot better that way.
