Meet the Perry Family
Nestled in the scenic Alessandro Heights area of Riverside, Erik and Kimberly Perry's story is a testament to family, community, and dedicated service. With roots in Riverside spanning over three decades, the Perry family has built a foundation of memories, community involvement, and a deep love for their neighborhood.
Erik and Kim, who have established their home on beautiful Matterhorn Drive, are the proud parents of three sons – Braham, Chase, and Hunter. The family is complete with the addition of their Daughter-in-Love (as Kim affectionately refers), Megan, who is married to Braham, and brings along their two fur grandbabies, Storm and Stevie.
Erik, a Navy veteran, was born at Camp Pendleton (his father was a Marine), and was eventually raised in the California Central Valley town of Merced. Kim was also born and raised here in Southern California. The two eventually crossed paths in Long Beach in 1991, shortly after Erik's return from the Gulf War. The couple exchanged vows in 1992 and decided to make Riverside their permanent home in 1993, purchasing a house in the La Sierra Acres area. In 2015, the family relocated here to Alessandro Heights.
Erik's career as a Fire Captain for Cal-Fire has been a cornerstone of the Perry family's life, and he is now anticipating retirement. Additionally, he has been an integral part of the Fire/Safety team at the California Speedway since its inception in 1997. Both Erik and Kim work at the Speedway when there is a NASCAR event going on. Kim became part of the A Salute to Veterans Parade committee when her boys were in the Civil Air Patrol at March Airforce Reserve Base. Civil Air Patrol is responsible for putting on the Pancake Breakfast that is held on parade morning, and the parade committee needed a parent representative at the monthly meetings. That was well over 10+ years ago, and she is still part of the parade committee, taking on different roles. However, she has now recruited Erik, and he is now part of the parade committee as well. He is currently the acting Vice-Chair when time allows. Both feel it is an honor to give back & support our Veterans. Erik being a disabled vet himself knows what it means to be able to honor all veterans
The Perry boys, proud graduates of Riverside Poly High School (Go Bears!), left their mark on the community through their involvement in swimming, water polo, and volleyball. Braham, the oldest, continues a family tradition as a third-generation firefighter and is currently working as a Firefighter/Paramedic for Cal-Fire, and his wife, Megan, is a registered nurse. Chase has found his calling as a welder, and Hunter is currently pursuing a career in emergency medical services while working at everyone's favorite hamburger stand.
The family's commitment to community extends beyond their professional lives. Erik is a member of the Rickshaws of Riverside Car Club and hosts a "Cars & Coffee" event on Saturday mornings at Harvest Christian Fellowship from 8am-10am, a testament to his passion for vintage vehicles. The Perrys are also proud members of the Riverside Elks Lodge #643, actively participating in the lodge's various events and functions.
In their downtime, the Perrys take delight in Riverside's diverse culinary scene, exploring unique and local restaurants. They love going out to all the different, unique, and mom & pop restaurants that Riverside has to offer.
Living in the Alessandro Heights area has brought unexpected joys, as the Perrys discovered the warmth of terrific neighbors who genuinely look out for one another.
As the Perry family continues to grow, thrive, and give back to the Riverside community, their story becomes intertwined with the rich tapestry of Riverside and Alessandro Heights, leaving an indelible mark on the place they proudly call home.
