SAFE CARTS: Built for Safety. Driven by Purpose.

After 12 years serving in U.S. Naval Special Warfare, veteran and father of four Zack Hannay is bringing that same focus on safety and responsibility to SAFE CARTS - providing fire-safe golf carts and batteries designed with families and communities in mind.

For Zack Hannay, safety isn't simply a feature to advertise. It's a responsibility.
A proud father of four and a U.S. Naval Special Warfare combat veteran who served for 12 years, Zack has spent much of his life in environments where preparation, reliability and safety matter. Today, he's applying that mindset to a very different mission as the owner of SAFE CARTS.
His goal is straightforward: provide fire-safe golf carts to the community at a competitive price.
In communities where golf carts have become part of everyday life - from school drop-offs and trips to the pool to visiting neighbors and simply enjoying an evening ride - Zack saw a need for an option that placed a greater emphasis on battery and fire safety.
He decided to do something about it.
Filling a Need in the Community
SAFE CARTS specializes in fire-safe golf carts and fire-safe batteries, with safety at the center of the company's approach.
Zack says what differentiates SAFE CARTS is its focus on UL-rated fire safety, an important consideration for families when comparing carts and battery systems.
His philosophy is especially relevant when shopping in a market with a wide range of prices, brands and configurations.
“Anytime you compromise on price, you compromise on safety,” Zack says. But he is also quick to point out that spending the most doesn't automatically guarantee the safest product.
“The most expensive isn't necessarily the safest - but the cheapest can be the most dangerous.”
His advice to residents is to look beyond appearance and price when purchasing a golf cart. Ask questions about the battery, safety certifications and components you're actually buying.
For Zack, educating customers is part of the job.
“I'm happy to answer any questions,” he says.
From Special Warfare to Small Business
Zack's path to entrepreneurship isn't the typical golf cart story.
Before launching SAFE CARTS, he spent 12 years as a U.S. Naval Special Warfare combat veteran. Those years helped shape an appreciation for equipment that performs as expected and the importance of not taking shortcuts where safety is concerned.
He's also a father of four, giving the issue of safety an especially personal dimension.
When Zack looked at the growing use of golf carts within residential communities, he saw an opportunity to provide a product that addressed something families may not always consider when they're shopping: what's powering the cart and how safely that system is designed.
SAFE CARTS was created to meet that need.
Growing to Meet Demand
Like many newer businesses, one of SAFE CARTS' first challenges was simply getting its name in front of people.
But as awareness has grown, Zack says the challenge has changed.
“We have a lot of demand,” he says. “Supplying that demand is difficult.”
It's a good problem for a growing company to have, but one that requires SAFE CARTS to continue expanding while remaining focused on the principles that led Zack to start the business in the first place.
Rather than viewing growth as simply selling more carts, he sees an opportunity to continue improving the product itself.
And his plans for SAFE CARTS are ambitious.
What's Next for SAFE CARTS?
Zack's long-term vision includes taking greater control over the design and engineering behind the products SAFE CARTS offers.
He's looking toward eventually designing the company's own golf carts and developing its own battery.
That would allow SAFE CARTS to build upon its safety-focused approach while developing products specifically around the standards and features Zack believes matter most.
It's a natural next step for a company that began because its owner saw a need and believed there was a better way to fill it.
Service Beyond the Business
That sense of purpose extends beyond SAFE CARTS.
Zack and the company also support missionaries in Costa Rica through 6:8 Ministries, allowing the success of the business to help support work beyond the local community.
For someone whose life has included military service, fatherhood and now entrepreneurship, giving back remains an important part of the bigger picture.
At its core, however, Zack says SAFE CARTS isn't complicated.
He's a local business owner who recognized a need and set out to provide a solution.
“I'm just trying to provide a product to a place where I saw a need,” he says.
And as golf carts continue to become an increasingly familiar part of neighborhood life, Zack hopes SAFE CARTS can give families something valuable to consider before their next purchase:
Don't choose a cart based solely on how it looks or what it costs.
Ask what's behind the seat, understand what you're buying and make safety part of the decision.
For Zack and SAFE CARTS, that's where the conversation begins.
