Hot Steppin’ Into Summer
From landmark luncheons and fashion shows to neighborhood stories and community causes, June’s issue highlights the people and connections that keep Ansley Park moving.
Me with the ever-stylish and enigmatic Erik LaValle at the Piedmont Park Conservancy’s Landmark Luncheon.
June in Atlanta always brings a different kind of energy. The days get longer, calendars fill up quickly, and the neighborhood seems to come alive in a new way—from evenings in Piedmont Park to gatherings and events happening all across the city.
One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about publishing Stroll Ansley Park has been the opportunity to attend and cover many of the events that matter to this community. This month, I was fortunate to attend the Piedmont Park Conservancy’s 29th Landmark Luncheon as a guest of the Conservancy, as well as the Women of Style & Substance Luncheon and Fashion Show, where I was personally invited to cover the event. I also had the chance to attend the Callanwolde Spring Concert Series featuring Kin the Band—another great reminder of how fortunate we are to have so many outstanding community events happening right around us. Between landmark luncheons, fashion shows, and evenings at Callanwolde, it’s been a surprisingly cultured stretch for me recently. I have to admit, being invited to such elegant and exclusive events feels like proof that I may be moving up in the world!
One of the most rewarding parts of this role has been the opportunity to help shine a light on the causes, charities, and philanthropic efforts that matter to people in the neighborhood. If you’re involved with an organization, fundraiser, or community initiative you’d like featured in a future issue, I’d genuinely love to hear from you. Helping tell those stories—and bringing attention to people doing meaningful work—is one of the parts of this magazine I value most.
This month’s issue also features our Meet Your Neighbor profile on Sally Bethea, whose decades of leadership and advocacy have helped shape many of Atlanta’s environmental and public spaces efforts. Elsewhere in the issue, you’ll find everything from neighborhood history and the curious story behind Montgomery Ferry Road to a warm welcome for the Dudzik family’s newest addition, baby Axel Roman.
I hope you enjoy the issue and have a great start to the summer.
