Callanwolde Fine Arts Center is one of Atlanta’s true cultural treasures. I have attended Jazz on the Lawn for most of the past 20 years, and my wife, Pam, and I have been season ticket holders since 2020. The Spring Concert Series and fall Jazz on the Lawn performances offer wonderful music in one of the city’s most beautiful and distinctive settings.
Our connection to Callanwolde has grown over the years. We have supported its annual fundraising events, including the gala, and Pam, an artist and educator, has taught watercolor classes there.
We encourage our Ansley Park neighbors to discover all that Callanwolde offers: attend a concert or special event, take an art class, or simply explore the historic former Candler family mansion and its beautiful grounds on Briarcliff Road, just east of Virginia-Highland. Callanwolde enriches our community through the arts, and we are fortunate to have it so close to home.

As with many homes in Ansley Park, our needs are somewhat out of the ordinary, and Lei and her team have been terrific about giving us options and walking us through the process. They’ve also been proactive about checking in to make sure we’re maintaining the best coverage and value for our needs.
As our needs have changed over time, they’ve been excellent about adapting to those changes and ensuring that we’re always up to date. We’ve also had the opportunity to refer Lei to several friends with specialized insurance needs involving art or jewelry, and I know she has taken very good care of them as well.

ELISE at the Woodruff Arts Center

If you are a frequent Woodruff Arts Center patron, you must dine at Elise! The chic design and atmosphere invite you in as low-key music plays and guests mingle in a relaxed setting. Just a few steps from Symphony Hall and the High Museum, you can grab a snack and a glass of wine or enjoy a superb dinner before a concert or play. Sitting at the bar is fun, too. The bartender is interesting and knowledgeable about the wine list, the menu and its food sources, and the service is exemplary.
After a day at the High, we were thirsty and hungry, so we dined at the bar. Two menu items that reveal whether a restaurant is really good are the purée and the frites. I can attest that the frites are outstanding, with a wonderfully savory taste, just the right amount of salt, and delicious potato flavor because they are freshly made in-house. The burger is to die for: tender, juicy and flavorful. The sauces are unique and sooo good. The wine list is excellent, covering all the bases with selections from California, France, Spain and Italy. I had a fabulous rosé.
The service, menu and style are a win-win for the newest addition to the Woodruff Arts Center.
