Midtown Mutts: Where Expertise, Heart, and Community Care Meet

Just two months after opening its doors, Midtown Mutts is already making a meaningful impression on Savannah’s pet-loving community. This women-owned, small animal veterinary clinic blends advanced medical care with a deeply personal approach—treating every pet as if they were their own.
Founded by longtime Savannah veterinarian Dr. Kate Steadley, Midtown Mutts is the realization of a dream that’s been quietly building for more than a decade. After years working as an associate veterinarian at other clinics, Dr. Steadley knew she was ready to take the leap into ownership. Then, serendipity stepped in.
“One day last spring, completely out of the blue, Teyah Oshetski called and asked if I was still interested in opening a clinic together,” Kate shares. “It was something we had talked about ten years earlier. The timing was perfect.”
After finding the ideal Midtown location, the journey from bakery to construction zone to fully equipped veterinary clinic began—marked by hard work, determination, and more than a few emotional moments. In November, Midtown Mutts officially opened its doors, supported every step of the way by family, friends, and neighbors.
High Standards, Comprehensive Care
Midtown Mutts offers a full range of services designed to meet pets’ needs at every stage of life. From wellness visits and problem-focused exams to urgent care and emergencies, the clinic is equipped to handle it all. On-site diagnostics include X-rays, ultrasound, dentistry, routine and non-routine surgeries, and a full in-house laboratory—meaning same-day test results whenever possible.
Their in-house pharmacy allows pets to head home with medications in hand, and if something isn’t stocked on site, the clinic’s online pharmacy delivers directly to clients’ doorsteps.
“We’re a compact crew, but we’re passionate and dedicated to providing the highest standard of care your pets deserve,” Kate says.
What truly sets Midtown Mutts apart, however, is their philosophy. As a women-owned practice, the team prides itself on practicing thoughtful, thorough medicine and treating every animal with the same care and respect they would expect for their own pets.
Rooted in Ardsley Park
Dr. Steadley and her husband, Kenneth, have called Ardsley Park home for four years, living just off Solomons’ Park with their two daughters and English cocker spaniel. Before settling near the “circle park,” the family lived in Baldwin Park and Parkside, but Ardsley Park quickly became the place they wanted to raise their children.
“Raising a family in this close-knit community is everything I could have hoped for,” Kate shares. “There’s always something to do, and we’ve formed wonderful friendships—especially when all the kids show up to help decorate for the holidays.”
Kenneth has worked with Savannah Bee Company for the past ten years and is, fittingly, passionate about all things honey. Outside the clinic, Kate enjoys gardening with her family and has recently begun experimenting with acrylic painting.
A Trusted Voice in Pet Health
A Savannah veterinarian since 2012, Kate has spent years building lasting relationships with clients and their pets. Her advice to fellow Ardsley Park residents is simple but important: keep pets on flea and heartworm prevention year-round—because “mosquitos never die”—and spay or neuter whenever possible.
As Midtown Mutts continues to grow, the focus remains clear: spreading the word, caring for clients, and building a veterinary practice rooted in compassion, expertise, and community.
With Midtown Mutts, Savannah pets have gained more than a new clinic—they’ve gained a neighbor who truly cares.
