Bebe, The Panther of Ardsley Park
Bebe is a thirteen year old Bombay or ‘Parlor Panther' cat, which is known for being highly intelligent and playful and having almost doglike personalities. Bebe is no exception as he always greets his mom and dad at the door when they come home and wherever they walk around the house, he is sure to follow close behind.
On Friday the 13th, 2012, Bebe, a gangly adolescent, showed up at what would become his forever home, lounging around and splitting his time between the front porch and yard. He was a beautiful and clearly well-loved boy, yet despite putting up signs, no one came to claim him so Arlene and Jon kept him and named him Bebe which is French for baby, however they pronounce his name BeeBee.
Aside from his duties as a door greeter and escort, Bebe is also a terrific supervisor and he takes his job very seriously! No box or package passes through the threshold without a thorough inspection and every window in the house is closely monitored for squirrels. While many of the pesky squirrels like to taunt Bebe, some just sit and stare at him and he has even made friends with some of them after a few visits. When he isn’t keeping up with package and squirrel inventory, Bebe enjoys hiding under giant piles of packing paper, or paper mountain, and then jumping out to surprise Arlene and Jon. Bebe is also a bit of a cat trainer. When he first became a part of the family, Arlene and Jon had a very shy older cat named Chirp that would hide away anytime there were visitors to the home. Bebe had a way of bringing Chirp out of his shell and soon friends and family got to meet Chirp as long as Bebe was by his side.
