Meet Caitlin Mathis

Tell us about your family!
My husband, Dylan, and I are raising two amazing boys—Roman (6) and baby Theodore. Roman made me a mom in the most meaningful way as his stepmom, and our bond is something I treasure. Bringing Theodore into the world this past year has been a completely different kind of motherhood—physically, emotionally, and mentally transformative. I’m so grateful for both of these boys who made me a mom in their own beautiful ways.

Where are you originally from?
I was born in Columbia, SC, but Savannah has felt like home since I was four. After attending the University of South Carolina, I came back quickly—there’s just something about Savannah that feeds the soul.

How old will your baby be on Mother’s Day 2025?
Almost one! Theodore was born on May 24th, so I’ll be celebrating my first Mother’s Day just shy of his first birthday.

What was the moment like when you first found out you were going to be a mom?
Total disbelief. After years of medical challenges and beginning fertility treatments, we never expected it to happen naturally—especially on Dylan’s birthday! That positive test turned an already special day into one we’ll never forget.

What’s been your favorite “first” with your baby so far?
The first time in the pool—he was so relaxed, he fell asleep in my arms. I’ll never forget it. Hearing “Dada” for the first time was unforgettable too… still waiting on “Mama!”

What’s one thing about being a mom that no one warned you about?
The way your heart lives outside your body now. Also, the intensity of nursing—it’s hard and beautiful all at once.

What’s your go-to “mom hack”?
A teether necklace at events = lifesaver. And a wristlet over a purse—trust me.

Favorite baby product you can’t live without?
Honestly? None! Simpler is better.

What’s one thing you swore you’d never do—but totally do now?
I thought life wouldn’t change that much. Spoiler: it does. But I’ve found my rhythm, baby in one hand, coffee in the other (on a good day!).
