Keeping Your Parents Safe, PLLC

For many families, navigating the healthcare system for aging parents can feel overwhelming, frustrating, and at times even frightening. Between multiple doctors, confusing treatment plans, insurance barriers, and the risk of exploitation, the journey can be more than any one family is prepared to face on their own. That’s where Barbara Wogh, RN Advocate and founder of Keeping Your Parents Safe, PLLC, steps in—offering seniors and their loved ones the confidence, protection, and expertise they deserve.

Barbara is a Registered Nurse and Board-Certified Patient Advocate with a mission rooted in both professional passion and deeply personal experience. “What I do is help people with their parents as they age and decline, guiding them through our fragmented healthcare system,” she explains. Unlike most care managers, Barbara brings not just years of hospital experience to her role but also the firsthand knowledge of how devastating improper oversight in elder care can be.

Her purpose became clear after her own family’s loss at the hands of elder exploitation. When Barbara’s mother, who had Alzheimer’s disease, required more support than her stepfather could provide, the family turned to outside help. Tragically, a caregiver financially exploited her stepfather—eventually costing him his home, life savings, and peace of mind. Barbara was able to relocate her mother into a memory care facility where she thrived until the end of her life, but the ordeal left an indelible mark. “I realized this could happen to any family—even those paying for care in what they think are safe places,” Barbara shares. “It doesn’t matter if it’s $5 or a million dollars. It’s the violation of trust that no one should ever have to go through.”

That experience convinced Barbara to dedicate her life to ensuring families do not face the same struggles. Eight years ago, she founded Keeping Your Parents Safe, PLLC, which now serves the greater Houston and Tomball areas.

The Role of an RN Senior Advocate
Barbara’s clients describe her as “the top of the puzzle box” when it comes to senior healthcare. Families are often left trying to piece together information from multiple providers without ever seeing the complete picture. Barbara sees her role as both general contractor of healthcare management and puzzle master, connecting the dots between providers, medications, and treatments while constantly advocating for her clients’ best interests.
Her clinical background is what sets her work apart. With years in critical care, cardiology, cardiac rehab, and nursing education, Barbara not only understands the system but knows how to speak its language effectively. Additionally, her training in communications and neurolinguistic programming allows her to guide conversations in often emotional and high-stakes situations with clarity and compassion.

One of her most valuable services is her Medication Management Program, a four-step process designed to reduce errors, reconcile medication lists across providers, and ensure timely refills and safe organization. Since one in three hospital admissions for older adults is due to medication-related issues, this program alone has prevented countless emergencies for her clients.

Local Roots and Family Life
Barbara grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and later spent 23 years in Los Angeles with her husband Dave, who worked as a special effects artist in film and television. In 2021, the family relocated to Pinehurst after seeking a slower pace of life near close friends. Married for 27 years, Barbara and Dave have two children: Aidan, 23, an audio engineer, and Morgan, 20, who is currently applying to nursing school. As a family, they enjoy traveling and camping in their RV.

Giving Back to the Community
Barbara’s reach extends beyond client care. She is an active volunteer and partner with The RightCare Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping seniors age safely in place. This partnership allows Barbara to provide unique, data-driven senior care assessments—solutions proven to decrease unsafe events and hospital readmissions. Patients of her home health care company, Solutions Home Health, also benefit from this methodology, making her team the only licensed providers in the area with these effective tools.

A Commitment to Families
At the heart of Barbara’s work is her devotion to ensuring that seniors and their families never feel alone. “You don’t know what you don’t know, especially in healthcare,” she says. “Never assume everything is being handled—always follow through and ask questions. Having an advocate ensures those questions are asked, and the right actions are taken.”
Barbara’s dedication is best summed up in the gratitude she receives from relieved families: “Thank you so much! We couldn’t have done it without you. You made a hard situation so much easier.”
