Otto & Snoopy

Regal Charm and Playful Chaos

Since May of 2014, this family has called our neighborhood home, drawn to its peaceful feel and the kind of environment that allows kids, and pets, to truly grow up well. Over the years, that sense of calm and connection has only deepened, especially with the addition of two very special four-legged family members: Otto and Snoopy.

Otto, age six, and Snoopy, age five, are both male Sheepadoodles, a mix of English Sheepdog and Poodle. Known for their intelligence, loyalty, and herding instincts, this breed fits the family perfectly. When the girls were younger, both dogs took their herding role seriously, often trying to gently “manage” family movement around the house. It was equal parts hilarious and heartwarming.

Otto joined the family just two weeks before the world learned the word “Covid.” From the moment he arrived, he fit right in. The bond was instant and strong. Nearly a year later, Snoopy came along, sealing the deal. The family loved the breed so much that adding a second felt natural. Today, they say both dogs are not just pets but true family members, and they feel incredibly lucky to have them.

Otto’s name holds special meaning. It had long been reserved for a future son, and when that chapter did not unfold as planned, it became the perfect name for their first dog. Snoopy earned his name simply by being himself. From the day he was born, he looked exactly like the beloved cartoon character, and there was no need to overthink it.

Their personalities could not be more different. Otto carries himself like a refined old soul, regal, calm, and dignified. The family lovingly compares him to the Clark Gable of dogs. Snoopy, on the other hand, brings the chaos. He is energetic, bouncy, wildly playful, and also the ultimate snuggle bug. Together, they strike a perfect balance.

Neither dog performs flashy tricks, but both possess an elite-level skill: staring relentlessly until treats appear. Otto treasures his stuffed octopus, while Snoopy is devoted to his collection of stuffed squirrels.

Favorite memories include bringing Otto home from the breeder, a day filled with excitement and certainty that he belonged. Snoopy’s early days are just as unforgettable, especially when he was small enough to hide under the couch and paw at unsuspecting feet.

At home, the dogs are happiest lounging around the house, though walks and trips to Cedar Bark Dog Park rank high on their list. If adventure called, Otto would travel first class on the Orient Express, while Snoopy would head straight for skiing in the Alps.

Two dogs, two personalities, and one very lucky family.
