The Foster Family, Rooted in Faith, Family, and Community
On Woodmire Drive in Milton, Scott and Lindsey Foster have built a life centered on faith, family, and strong community ties. Along with their daughters, Maya, Sofie, and Joanna, and their goldendoodle Rocky, the Fosters have called their neighborhood home for 17 years, building friendships and creating memories that continue to shape their story.
Scott, a Milton native, and Lindsey, who grew up in East Pea Ridge, are both proud graduates of Cabell Midland High School. Scott went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and Marketing from Marshall University and a master’s degree in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University. Lindsey earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish Education from Marshall University and later completed a master’s degree in Educational Technology from Boise State University.
The couple met at church after a little encouragement from friends. “The women at church set us up,” Lindsey said. “Our first date was at Applebee’s, and this December we’ll celebrate 20 years of marriage. It’s amazing how quickly the time has gone.”
Scott works as a sales representative for Hawkins Sales in the electrical manufacturing industry, where he enjoys building relationships with customers throughout the state. He also serves on the Milton City Council and is actively involved in the Milton Rotary, the Milton Business Development Committee, Lebanon Lodge #68, and as treasurer of their HOA. “Scott truly cares about our city and its future,” Lindsey shared. “He’s committed to helping make Milton a better place for our children and future generations.”
Lindsey teaches Spanish at Cabell Midland High School and with the West Virginia Virtual School, returning each day to her alma mater. She has been selected as both a Kahoot! Ambassador and an Edpuzzle Ambassador because of her passion for educational technology. “I love teaching at Cabell Midland and helping students succeed both in and out of the classroom,” Lindsey shared with Stroll Barboursville. “Education is always evolving, and I enjoy finding ways to make learning engaging and meaningful.”
Their daughters stay active and involved. Maya, an eighth grader at Milton Middle School, participates in golf, performance choir, Beta Club, and a youth group. Sofie, a sixth grader, plays piano and is involved in band and youth group. Joanna, a third grader at Milton Elementary, enjoys hip-hop dance at Ultimate Dance Legacy, Upward soccer, Good News Club, and creating her own music videos.
As a family, they cherish simple moments together. “Whether it’s a quick Starbucks run, watching a movie, or finding something fun to do as a family, we just enjoy being together,” Lindsey said. Favorite family meals include pizza, chicken noodle soup, spaghetti, and tacos, and Christmas Day brunch at their home is a tradition that brings extended family together each year.
The Fosters are passionate supporters of Cabell Midland High School, Marshall University, Milton Middle School, Milton and Ona Little Leagues, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Cincinnati Bengals.
They also appreciate the local businesses that make their community feel like home. Family favorites include Shafer’s Drive In and Oscars Breakfast Burgers & Brews, two spots they enjoy visiting together and sharing with friends.
The Foster family has also faced challenges with resilience and openness. Sofie was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at age two, and Maya lives with photosensitive epilepsy. “Our girls have faced health challenges, and they’ve chosen to share their stories in hopes of encouraging others,” Lindsey said. “Those experiences have helped our family grow more aware and compassionate. We are passionate about respecting and celebrating differences in everyone.”
