Meet the Jordans: A Family Rooted in Community, Sports, and Service

In the Saddlebrooke neighborhood of Milton, you’ll find the Jordan family—Missy, Jason, and their sons Noah and Cohen—living a life grounded in family values, academic excellence, and community involvement. Their beloved yellow lab Champ, age 7, is always close by, ready for a walk or game of fetch.
Missy and Jason Jordan have called Saddlebrooke home for over 19 years, having moved in when Cohen was just one week old. “We’ve built so many memories here. The sense of community is strong, and we truly love seeing familiar faces every time we’re out and about,” said Missy, who shared the family’s story with Stroll Barboursville.
Missy grew up in McMechen and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1992. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marshall University, where she met Jason during a game of intramural sports. “I was the graduate assistant scheduling and refereeing games, and Jason got injured during one. We had to file an incident report, and he ended up getting my number from that,” Missy laughed. The rest is history. The couple married in October 1999.
Jason, a Barboursville native and graduate of Barboursville High School, signed to play baseball at Marshall University, where he earned his degree in environmental biology in 1998. After a 26-year career in senior management at Special Metals, he recently followed his passion and launched Horizons Custom Landscape and Design, serving Huntington, Barboursville, and Hurricane. He also helps manage CT Services, a local logistics company and heavy truck repair shop owned by a close friend.
Missy has dedicated over 26 years as a Home Health Speech Therapist with St. Mary’s Medical Center. “I truly love what I do,” she said.
Their two sons have carved impressive paths of their own. Noah, 21, graduated from Cabell Midland in 2022 and signed to play baseball at West Virginia State University. After a year playing JUCO baseball in Charlotte, he has committed to play at Point Park University in Pittsburgh.  He has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout college. “Noah has worked so hard, both on and off the field. We’re incredibly proud of the young man he’s become,” Jason said.
Cohen, 19, is a 2024 graduate of Cabell Midland High School and now attends Marshall University, majoring in biology with plans to attend medical school. A decorated athlete, Cohen excelled in cross country and track, his passion being pole vault. He claimed first place in the 2024 WV State Track Meet and helped lead Cabell Midland to a state championship. Cohen also holds the school record in pole vault at 14'7".
As a family, the Jordans are active in the local community. They’ve long participated in the Ona Elite running program, support the track and cross country teams at Cabell Midland, and help maintain a local road through the Adopt-a-Highway program alongside neighbors from Nashmont. They also attend services at St. Stephens in Ona.
The Jordans make the most of their downtime through a shared love of outdoor activities and fitness. Missy is an avid runner who has completed the New York City and Boston Marathons, along with several triathlons and a half Ironman. Jason and Cohen bond over golf, while Jason and Noah enjoy playing pickleball. The entire family loves to ski, frequenting Snowshoe and Timberline locally and making annual trips out west to Colorado or Utah.
Their favorite vacation destination is Costa Rica, but the Jordans also value traditions closer to home. “Every summer, we go to the beach with our extended family, and we spend Thanksgiving near D.C. with my sisters and their families,” said Missy.
As for sports fandom, the family roots enthusiastically for Marshall University and the University of North Carolina.
When asked what makes their neighborhood so special, Jason put it simply: “It’s the perfect mix of small-town life with the convenience of city amenities. We love the slower pace, and we feel lucky to live in a place where we know our neighbors and feel connected.”
Whether it’s on the field, at work, or within their community, the Jordans are a true example of a Barboursville family living with purpose, passion, and pride.
