The Healing Touch Behind Sunstone Massage & Spa

Amanda Wierenga is redefining wellness through personalized care, natural techniques, and a deeply human approach to helping clients feel their best.

When you step into Sunstone Massage & Spa in Panama City Beach, you quickly realize it’s not just another spa, it’s a reflection of its owner, Amanda Wierenga. Warm, attentive, and deeply intentional, Amanda has built her business around one guiding principle: every client deserves to feel genuinely cared for.

Amanda, a licensed massage therapist and co-owner alongside Chris Mitchell, first launched Sunstone as a mobile service in April 2025. Traveling to clients’ homes allowed her to provide relief from stress, tension, and chronic pain in a setting where people already felt comfortable. As demand grew, so did her vision. In February 2026, that vision became a reality with the opening of a dedicated spa space at 8811 Front Beach Road. The location gave Amanda room to expand her offerings while preserving the personal touch that made her mobile services so popular.

Sunstone now provides a full range of massage and body treatments, including Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, and specialty sessions, along with customized enhancements. Amanda is known for incorporating natural botanicals and specialized oils into her work, carefully tailoring each treatment to the individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Unlike many spas, Sunstone remains intentionally small and hands-on. Amanda personally performs every service, ensuring consistency and quality, while her husband supports operations behind the scenes. Even their daughter plays a small role helping out, making the business a true family effort. Amanda plans to grow thoughtfully in the future, adding other licensed professionals who share her dedication to detail and client-centered care.

Her passion for massage therapy comes from seeing the real impact it can have. For Amanda, it’s not just about relaxation, it’s about helping people feel better in their bodies and in their daily lives. She encourages clients to think of massage as part of a wellness routine, not an occasional treat.

When she’s not working, Amanda enjoys a slower pace at home, spending time with her family, caring for plants, reading, and tackling creative projects with her husband. Those simple moments, she says, are what keep her grounded, and they’re the same sense of calm she hopes every client carries with them after leaving Sunstone.
