Regarding your area of expertise, what’s something that non-experts believe that they’re
actually mistaken about?
One of the misconceptions in our field is the growing interest in dental implants and "teeth-in-a-day"/ "All-on-4" concept. The concern we have about the field of dental implants and smile make-overs is that clinicians are not properly educating their patients about the maintenance and commitment to a good dentist-patient relationship to maintain their new smile.

What's the most commonly asked question you get?
What is a dental implant?

How do you respond to that question?
A dental implant is a titanium fixture or screw that acts as an artificial root or anchor to replace a missing tooth or help hold a denture or teeth in your mouth.

What's another question people ask you about your field of expertise?
Q: Why does gum disease occur?
A: Gum disease can be a chronic or acute infection that leads to inflammation, bleeding, and sometimes pus in the gums around your teeth, that can lead to advanced bone loss and eventual tooth loss if not treated. Simple oral hygiene and regular dentist visits can help limit the progression of gum disease and provide early intervention before things get worse.

Please explain why what you do is important to a homeowner or resident.
We help support local dentists with advanced specialty care. Once a case becomes more complex or is outside the scope of what a typical dentist can perform, we are here to help.

What are some "do's and don'ts" you would tell clients regarding your business?
Do: Go to the dentist every 6 months for cleanings/check-ups.
Do: Use an electric toothbrush and water flosser
Do: Brush your teeth twice a day :)
Don't: Sip on sugary or acidic beverages all day. If you do, do so quickly and drink water afterwards so the acid and sugar don't stay on your teeth.
Don't: Wait until you have dental pain if possible.
Don't: Wait until your gum recession continues to get worse. Early intervention with a specialist is your
friend.
Don't: Eat or drink anything besides water after you brush your teeth before bed.
