If you’ve ever taken an evening stroll along the lake or watched the sunset from Oakwood Beach, you know just how special this little spot is to the Beach Cliff community. It’s where summer memories are made — kids chasing waves, friends gathering around picnic tables, and families enjoying peaceful lake views right in our own backyard.

Over the years, though, Lake Erie’s changing weather and steady wave erosion have started to take their toll. The shoreline, pier, and landing at Oakwood Beach have all suffered damage, and the time has come for the community to step in and make a lasting difference.

That’s exactly what’s happening through the Save Oakwood Beach Initiative, led by the Beachcliff Association. The goal? To restore and preserve this beloved neighborhood treasure for generations to come.

The Association has partnered with Engineered Technical Solutions (ETS) to develop a professional restoration plan and is working closely with environmental agencies to move the project forward. The plan includes reinforcing the shoreline, repairing key structures, and ensuring Oakwood Beach remains safe, beautiful, and accessible for everyone to enjoy.

To make this restoration possible, the Association has launched a community fundraising campaign — and every contribution counts. Residents can sponsor everything from small pavers ($500) and Adirondack chairs ($1,000) to gazebos ($10,000), each gift helping bring the vision to life.

Work is expected to begin soon, with visible progress anticipated as early as next spring.

“This effort really shows what makes Beach Cliff special,” says a representative from the Association. “When our community comes together, we can accomplish incredible things.”
