Cheering On the Vaughn Sisters!
Avery, Kenzie, Payton and Hannah
The Vaughn sisters are so excited to be recognized as February’s Athletes of the Month! Kenzie (6th grade), Hannah (4th grade), Avery (2nd grade) and Payton (Kindergarten) have been flipping and cheering throughout Dripping Springs for the last several years!
These dynamic siblings have made cheerleading and tumbling their passion, putting their energy and dedication into a sport that builds strength, agility and teamwork. All four sisters kicked off their cheer journey in Kindergarten through the Dripping Springs Youth Sports Association (DSYSA). Today, Kenzie and Hannah perform on competition teams at Hill Country Elite Cheer (HCE), while Avery and Payton continue honing their skills with DSYSA. The whole crew enjoys tumbling at HCE Athletics.
Travel is part of the thrill for Kenzie and Hannah, who crisscross Texas for competitions. Last year, Kenzie’s HCE team earned an invitation to Summit in Florida—a major milestone that highlighted her team’s hard work on a national stage. For aspiring athletes, the sisters say, “It’s not a race. Take time to develop your skills and technique before moving onto the next. Cheer challenges you mentally and physically. Never give up!”
When asked what they love most about the sport, they all agreed- the excitement of performing on stage and the sidelines! Their favorite moments come from conquering new tumbling skills or stunt sequences after persistent practice. As a parent, it feels so encouraging when your child looks forward to going to practice. The gyms of HCE have felt like a second home to them! Their coach and owner of HCE, Katie Dotson, praises their drive: “The Vaughn girls have not only grown in their skills, but in their leadership and commitment to reaching their goals. They show up to each practice ready to put in the work, and they understand hard work pays off – seeing their huge smiles as they achieve new skills is a testament to that! Kenzie and Hannah are paving the way for their two little sisters as well, with both Avery and Payton tackling tumbling classes with the same commitment and drive!”
The Vaughn Sisters are a testament to family, hard work, and the joy of sports. Whether they choose to continue cheering over the years or try something new, they have all grown in strength and confidence through cheer that will help them succeed wherever they go. Most importantly, they have had fun doing it together! We are so proud to cheer THEM on!
