Do You Enjoy a Great Lunch?

A Storehouse for Jesus

How about enjoying a lunch that not only tastes good but makes you feel good about eating it?  Here’s your chance!

Are you familiar with A Storehouse for Jesus in Mocksville?  Let’s call it ASFJ for short.  ASFJ is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving Davie County residents in need by providing food, clothing, medical, dermatology, psychiatry and dental care. They also serve people of Davidson, Iredell, Rowan and Yadkin counties.

The Gospel of Christ is shared with those receiving aid as appropriate, but they don’t have to profess faith to get help.   ASFJ is run by volunteers; no one receives so much as a penny for working there. There is no charge for food, clothing or medical services provided to the clients.

ASFJ picks up food from grocery stores in Clemmons and Davie County – Publix and Food Lion to name just two – in refrigerated vans seven days a week.  Clothing, food and household items are donated by the public.  All the donated items are carefully inspected and sorted by workers prior to distribution.  I have worked a couple of shifts at ASFJ and have been very impressed by how well-organized things are.

I DID mention lunch early on, so let me tell you about that.  The annual luncheon ASFJ’s biggest fundraiser. Cash is needed to keep the lights on, the building repaired and pay for other expenses.  I guess I could make a “no free lunch” joke here, but it’s no laughing matter.  Even with almost everything  that comes to ASFJ going directly to the clients, there’s NEVER enough to fill the demand.  To paraphrase the words of Jesus, “The poor will always be with us.”

Simply put, ASFJ Needs Your Help!

This year’s luncheon is open to the public and will be sponsored by the Bermuda Run Country Club’s Ladies’ 9 Hole Golf Association.   The Bermuda Run Garden Club will provide the centerpieces  and the Tennis, and 18 Hole Golf group will help promote the event.  There is a goal of 150 attendees this year – which would be the biggest crowd ever.  You do not need to  be a club member to attend!

The luncheon will be on December 5, 2024, at Bermuda Run’s East Clubhouse.  The doors open at 11 AM and lunch will be served at 11:30.  The cost is $30 and can be paid by a check made to Bermuda Run Country Club or charged to your member number.  To sign up for lunch, email Gini Brannon at Ginibrannon@yahoo.com.  If you’d like to sit with someone special or sponsor a table, let Gini know.

If you can’t attend the luncheon but would like to help out financially, you can donate on line at https://storehouseforjesus.mywell.org/give/sign-in or by sending a check to Storehouse for Jesus, 675 East Lexington HWY, Mocksville, NC 27028.  Your donation will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.
