Spreading Christmas Cheer: Mocksville Women’s Club Brightens the Season for Senior Ladies

Every December, the Mocksville Women’s Club transforms its meeting room into a workshop of compassion — tables piled high with cheerful gift bags, warm blankets, scented soaps, holiday treats, scarves and  various toiletry items. It’s the club’s beloved annual tradition: creating Christmas gift bags for senior ladies in the community. This year, members assembled more than 50 gift bags, each one prepared with thought and affection.
The project serves women aged 65 and older who have registered with A Storehouse for Jesus for assistance during the holiday season. For many recipients, these carefully prepared gifts are more than presents—they are reminders that they are seen, valued, and cherished by their community.
Founded on service and sisterhood, the Mocksville Women’s Club is part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs–North Carolina (GFWC-NC), one of the oldest and largest women’s volunteer organizations in the state. The club channels its energy into a variety of local projects, from supporting education and the arts to promoting civic engagement and improving the well-being of families and seniors.

But the December Senior Ladies Gift Bag Project holds a special place in members’ hearts. Club volunteers spend weeks planning, gathering donations, and assembling each bag with care. “We want every woman to feel wrapped in love at Christmastime,” one member shared. “It’s about joy, dignity, and connection.”

Year after year, the Mocksville Women’s Club proves that small acts of kindness—done together—can make a big impact. And at Christmastime, their dedication shines brighter than ever.
