Co-owners John and Tammy Parks are deeply rooted in the Winston-Salem community. Tammy, originally from Albany, NY, spent over 25 years as a designer in the apparel industry in New York City before moving to North Carolina 19 years ago. Meanwhile, John — who moved to North Carolina in 1985 after going to high school and college in Cleveland, TN — previously spent over 27 years as a vice president of a local decorative hardware and plumbing showroom. Today, the couple and two of their four children reside in Clemmons, with Tammy holding significant roles as the president of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce and the president of the Parents' Association at Salem Academy, in addition to running Parks Decorative Hardware and Plumbing alongside John.

Parks Decorative was born out of John’s love for hardware and plumbing. “John has always had a passion for this industry, whether it is recognizing what hardware is used in movies or being able to tell you the part number of what might be in your home,” says Tammy. In 2018, with the encouragement of his wife, John took a leap and opened Parks Decorative in a small office in the Broyhill Office Suites in Clemmons. “We quickly outgrew that space and moved to our current showroom in 2019,” says John.

Now located in a remarkable 5,500-square-foot showroom in Winston-Salem, Parks Decorative boasts an impressive array of name-brand decorative hardware, plumbing fixtures and lighting, ranging from basic builders' hardware to custom-made-in-the-USA forged door handles and knobs. What really sets Parks Decorative apart, however, is their dedication to customer service and their commitment to helping clients find products that not only meet their functional needs but also reflect the unique personality of their home or business. "We don't just care about selling a product,” says John. “We care about you getting a product you can be happy with for a long time. We have genuine enthusiasm and love for what we do!"

John and Tammy’s concern for others extends well beyond their clients, as community engagement and charity are important to the couple, as well. Parks Decorative currently supports the Fostering Faith Foundation, providing for the needs of children in foster care through a drop box in their showroom. Additionally, Parks Decorative collaborates with organizations like Greater Winston-Salem and ASPIRE, as well as West Forsyth High School, to offer internship opportunities to local youth. “We sponsor events as appropriate and look forward to supporting our community more in the future,” says John.
