Davie Women’s Auxiliary Gathers for a Purposeful May Meeting

On Wednesday, May 21st, the Davie Women’s Auxiliary — Davie County’s newest group for women dedicated to service and community — held its monthly meeting with a full agenda and a full heart .
Now just barely a year old, the group has already grown to 53 members strong, officially welcoming Kay Powell as its newest member during the May gathering. Each month the Auxiliary meets on the third Wednesday to connect, contribute, and coordinate their growing list of service projects aimed at improving lives in Davie County.
This month’s meeting featured a special presentation from Dr. Suzanne Hess, founder of Davie Dermatology, who spoke passionately about skin cancer awareness and prevention—a timely and important topic as summer approaches. Her talk was both informative and empowering, reminding members of the value of self-care and early detection.
Members also contributed 38 jars of peanut butter to support “Serving Our Neighbors”, a mobile ministry providing essential resources to underserved families throughout the county. The group continues it ongoing Diaper Drive for the Storehouse for Jesus, withe a particular focus on larger sized diapers. Donations can be conveniently dropped off at the Habitat ReStore at Bermuda Quay Shopping Center in Bermuda Run.
Looking ahead, the Auxiliary is excited to assist with the upcoming Charity Classic Golf Tournament on September 13 at Bermuda Run Country Club, which will benefit Habitat For Humanity Davie County. In May the group also celebrated the success of its annual Geranium Sale, which raised much needed funds for future projects and local charitable support. Planning is already underway for a Poinsettia Sale in December as well as a fundraising dinner at Bermuda Village to benefit Habitat For Humanity Davie.
The Davie Women’s Auxiliary is more than just a service group—it’s a growing sisterhood of women determined to make a difference, one project at a time.
