PGA REACH - Birdies for a Better Tomorrow - Bermuda Run Country Club

Mary Thomas and Casey Cline Tee Up for PGA REACH Carolinas Birdie Blitz

Mary Thomas, Bermuda Run’s Director of Golf, and Casey Cline, Director of instruction, are teaming up for a cause that’s bigger than the game. On November 3rd, the Bermuda Run pros will participate in the PGA REACH Carolinas Birdie Blitz to be held at Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst, swinging for more than just bragging rights. With every birdie, they’re raising funds to support Veterans, youth golf, and inclusion programs across the Carolinas. It’s golf with heart—and they’re ready to go low for a terrific cause.

The event challenges teams of two to play as many par-3 holes as possible (up to 36) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., aiming to score as many birdies as they can. Supporters can pledge a donation per birdie or contribute a flat amount—all benefiting the PGA REACH Carolinas Foundation.

What Is PGA REACH?

PGA REACH Carolinas is the charitable arm of the Carolinas PGA Section. Its mission centers on three pillars:

  • Youth Golf Access – scholarships and leagues for young players
  • Military Support – including PGA HOPE, which introduces golf to Veterans as a therapeutic outlet
  • Inclusion – helping diverse and underserved groups access opportunities in the golf industry

In 2024 alone, PGA REACH Carolinas positively impacted more than 1,200 Veterans through free PGA HOPE programs and provided access to golf for 500+ children across the Carolinas.

Supporting Veterans through PGA HOPE

With Veterans Day approaching on November 11th, Mary and Casey are especially proud to support a cause close to their hearts. Casey regularly volunteers with PGA HOPE Greensboro. Mary teaches veterans through PGA HOPE at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro.

Mary says: “I have always had a soft spot and gratitude for all Veterans. Golf provides both social interaction and a therapeutic element of focus and healing and is a game all generations can play together. I am honored to help with the work specifically of PGA HOPE which saves lives as the suicide rate among Veterans rises.”
