An Admired Neighbor - Gini Brannon

Hello everyone! Stephanie, Stroll Bermuda Run's area director and publisher, made a plea for FEEL GOOD and COMMUNITY-related articles and immediately Gini Brannon came to mind, so I would like to tell you about her.

I believe that I met Gini about a year after she and her husband moved to
Bermuda Run…."officially" met her that is. I was aware of the new kid in
town almost immediately. She seemed to be everywhere at once. They
moved into Bermuda Run in February 2019. She told me that she joined
the ladies golf groups to meet new people in our community. When I first
saw her she was walking with some of the 9-Holers while they were
playing golf and she was recovering from back surgery. Well, that to me
was pretty impressive.

The following year, Covid hit and everyone was playing Golf. I had been playing with the 18-Holers and joined the 9-Holers for some extra time out of the house with friends. Many of us survived Covid through playing golf. So I officially met Gini and we played some golf together.

I learned that Gini is a very interesting lady. She told me that she moved to Saudi Arabia with her parents when she was 9. Her parents worked for ARAMCO and her school only went through 9th grade. She attended Marymount International School in Rome, Italy and upon graduation attended college in Texas. She told me that from the time she was young, it was instilled in her that being an American citizen is a great honor and privilege. You see, Gini’s parents fled communist Cuba and maintained it is one’s duty to be productive members of society; assist family, friends and community when asked. Gini has certainly done that in the time that she and her husband, Mike have lived here. Oh, and by the way, her husband is our Town Mayor. Gini and Mike have three daughters. Gwen Mercedes, Alexandra and Kaila.

Some of the activities and duties Gini had been involved in are:

  • Nine-Holers
    • Chair 2023
    • Vice Chair 2021-22
  • Storehouse for Jesus
    • Luncheon LGA Organizer, Hostess and Reservations 2021-2024
    • Spanish Interviewer 2024 +
  • Volunteer Coordinator, Christmas in the Town of Bermuda Run 2022 - current
  • Member of Mocksville Woman’s Club 2022 - current
    • Christmas - Spanish interviewer for Storehouse
    • Publicity - submitting pictures and stories about the club 2024
  • Secretary of the newly formed Davie Women’s Auxiliary which is a volunteer organization that promotes fellowship among women and provides support tor charitable efforts and organizations within the community.
She told me that living outside the United States has given her the
opportunities to immerse herself in different cultures, learning the
languages and experiencing the regional cuisines. She LOVES TO COOK.
By cooking she shows her love and appreciation to her family and friends;
it is how she nurtures . Her fondest memories were when she was
cooking with her grandmother “abuela”, mom and sisters.

Gini, we are glad that you and Mike decided to make your home here at
Bermuda Run.

Linda
