A Birthday Worth Celebrating
There are birthdays that come and go with a cake, a few presents and a quick “Happy Birthday.” And then there are birthdays that become a celebration of a life well lived and the many people fortunate enough to be part of it.
That was certainly the case when neighbors, friends and family gathered to celebrate Barbara “Bobbie” Turner.
Surrounded by the people who have come to know and love her through the years, the evening was filled with laughter, friendship, wonderful food and plenty of memories. What began as a birthday party quickly became something more—a celebration of a wonderful life of service.
Bobbie holds a special place in our hearts. She’s had an amazing career as a Registered Nurse with a Master’s Degree and after retirement, she’s still sharing her many years of experience as an instructor in a local nursing program teaching what she loves. How lucky these students are to have a mentor like Bobbie.
Over the years, she has built friendships that go far beyond simply waving on their evening golf cart rides through Kinderton Village, she is the kind of neighbor who makes a community feel like a family. She knows how to make people smile, is always ready for a good conversation and has a genuine way of making those around her feel welcome and appreciated. And, if you’ve been sick or had surgery she’s going to knock on your door and check on you!
Turning 70 is certainly worth celebrating, but being surrounded by people that truly care for you is an even greater gift. As many of us who have turned 70 over the last few years, we simply say, “Welcome to the 7th floor, Bobbie”!
Judging by the smiles, laughter and full plates, it was a birthday celebration that everyone will remember—and one that proved the best parties aren’t measured by how fancy they are, but by how much love fills the room. The room was full……
Honored to call her my friend!
