Finding What Works for You
Q & A with Dr. Paul Tenzel
What’s your fitness routine?
It honestly is hard to call it a true routine. With the craziness of kids and work, I try to fit in working out with whatever time I can make happen. I work out at Reuter YMCA with a personal trainer and other Biltmore Park friends on Tuesday and Thursday mornings before going to the clinic. For the weekends, if I can make it to a Burn camp with my wife, Elena, I’ll do that. If not, I try to exercise at home.
Do you enjoy working out?
Once I’m actually at the gym, I really do enjoy working out because I know that I am making a difference in my long-term health.
Any advice on healthy eating for everyone?
I am not the person to go to for healthy eating advice. This is something I continue to try to improve upon.
What made you join Burn?
My wife, Elena, loves her camps at Burn Boot Camp and wanted me to work out with her. I bought a 21-day trial membership and had a great experience. I enjoy not thinking about what workouts to do next because Burn Boot Camp already offers a weekly plan combining strength training days with cardio days. I also enjoy personal training in a group setting.

What’s your favorite type of workout?
MetCon (metabolic conditioning) ... just kidding. I generally like anaerobic workouts with higher weights and lower reps. This gives me a way to see the progress I am making.
How do you stay accountable or consistent?
I need a plan to work out with other people to keep myself accountable. It makes the exercise more fun and makes it harder for me to skip a day.
What motivates you?
Being healthier for the long term is what motivates me most. I know that every workout I put in now leads to a more active life later.
