The Asheville Police Foundation

Gathering community support and resources to enhance the effectiveness of the Asheville Police Department

The Asheville Police Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) established in 2023 with the goal of helping officers, their families and the department as a whole with assistance otherwise not funded by the city itself. The charter was specifically developed to allow the board to assist any member of a public safety entity within the region.

We were fortunate to have received final approval for 501(c)(3) status just prior to the horrific Hurricane Helene event and its aftermath. The Asheville Police Department Board was able to accept generous donations by the business and residential community alike and turn around immediate assistance to officers and family members struggling to survive after the storm.

The foundation has assisted more than 28 families, purchased equipment to support rescue and recovery efforts for first responders, provided replacement boots for local firefighters, assisted in the donation of a much-needed off-road vehicle for the Fletcher Police Department, and helped replace two Police K-9s for the Asheville Police Department.

The foundation is active in continuing these efforts to support local agencies and their personnel. This year the board will be hosting several fundraising events and is always grateful for partners who support the mission.
