South Asheville ER Opens in Arden

Convenient emergency care should you need it.

Mission Health recently opened a new standalone ER in South Asheville at 2512 Hendersonville Road in Arden, conveniently located just 4 miles from Biltmore Park. A campus of Mission Hospital, the 11,000-square-foot emergency room is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, 11 exam rooms, an on-site laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, including CT and X-rays, crash carts, ventilators and IVs.

Board-certified emergency physicians and specially trained nurses are able to treat many conditions, including broken bones, severe illness, injuries and serious infections. South Asheville ER gives emergency medical services (EMS) partners a place for critical patients to be stabilized before transport to an inpatient hospital. The facility is licensed by the state of North Carolina and provides South Asheville residents and visitors another option for being seen and treated 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Emergency departments across the country and locally have seen an influx of patients who are experiencing longer wait times. Mission Hospital aims to help in meeting the larger demand for emergency services with this additional location.

“Expanding our services to the Arden area helps us provide emergency care in a more convenient location for community members,” says Wyatt Chocklett, chief operating officer of Mission Hospital and Biltmore Park resident. “We currently see patients from these neighborhoods and now look forward to caring for them closer to home.”

On-call specialists are available and consultation services are provided by hospital medical staff, with seamless transfer to an inpatient hospital should a higher level of care be required. ER physicians who work at Mission Hospital ER rotate to South Asheville’s ER, providing the same level of high-quality care. “Our facility can treat patients of all ages from cradle all the way up to the end of life,” says Wyatt.

“This expansion underscores Mission Health’s commitment to the care and improvement of human life by providing critical healthcare services closer to where people live, work and play.”

Biltmore Park Residents Can Get Help Fast
Wyatt Chocklett says, “Bee sting? You don’t need to come to the ER, as an urgent care facility can help. Stung by a hive of bees? Come to the ER.” Go to a standalone ER when the medical emergency requires immediate attention (and that ER is closer to you), such as severe injuries, shortness of breath, broken bones or abdominal pain. Oftentimes a standalone ER will have shorter wait times and will be calmer. “When in doubt, come to the ER,” Wyatt says.
