Meet Keri Evjy of Healing Roots Design

Where Landscapes Become Living Ecosystems

At Healing Roots Design, landscaping is more than curb appeal, it's a return to the right relationship with the land.

Founded in 2009 by Keri Evjy, Healing Roots Design is a woman-owned regenerative landscaping company rooted in the belief that our outdoor spaces can nourish both people and planet. Based in Swannanoa and serving communities throughout Western North Carolina, Healing Roots Design creates landscapes that are as beautiful as they are purposeful: places where food, medicine, native plants and habitat coexist in harmony.

Keri’s path to founding Healing Roots Design grew from a deep desire to reconnect humans with nature’s healing power right at their doorstep. With more than 900 hours of herbal medicine training, three permaculture design courses and a Sustainable Design certification from Yestermorrow Design Build School, Keri brings an uncommon depth of knowledge to every project. Keri was named a leader in Sustainability in 2024 by Green Built Alliance. Her work bridges ecology, education and artistry, transforming lawns into thriving ecosystems and outdoor spaces into sanctuaries.

What truly sets Healing Roots Design apart is its holistic, whole-systems approach. Each client journey begins with an in-depth educational land walk: an expert consultation that considers soil health, water flow, native flora and fauna and the lived experience of the people who call the land home. From there, Healing Roots Design collaborates closely with clients to design landscapes that are efficient, resilient, low maintenance and deeply aligned with nature.

Clients often remark not only on the beauty of the finished landscapes but also on the experience of working with the team. One client described Healing Roots Design’s staff as “tranquil, trustworthy and generous,” a reflection of the company’s grounded, earth-centered philosophy.

Healing Roots Design offers full-service regenerative landscaping, including design, installation, maintenance and habitat cultivation. Their projects range from residential gardens to schools and businesses seeking native, edible, and medicinal landscapes that support long-term ecological health. The team itself is a diverse collective of herbalists, stonemasons, orchardists, farmers, permaculturists, carpenters, artisans and dedicated stewards of the land, each bringing specialized skills to create living, breathing landscapes.

Beyond individual projects, Healing Roots Design is deeply woven into the fabric of the wider community.
Keri is also the author of the Regenerative Life Design Playbook, a nature-informed multimedia toolkit that extends Healing Roots Design’s philosophy beyond the garden, helping individuals apply regenerative thinking to everyday decision-making and personal growth.

For Biltmore Park neighbors considering how their outdoor spaces might better serve their families, communities and the environment, Healing Roots Design offers an invitation: reclaim your land as a place of beauty, nourishment and balance. Whether the vision is large or small, the goal is the same: creating landscapes that heal.
