The Little Gym
Where Serious Fun Builds Strong Foundations

When Stephanie Corcoran first walked into The Little Gym of Asheville with her children more than a decade ago, she couldn’t have imagined the impact it would have on her family, or the community. What began as a place for her shy 6-year-old son to build confidence has now become Stephanie’s life’s work.
As the proud owner of The Little Gym of Asheville, Stephanie is passionate about helping children ages 4 months to 12 years grow in confidence, independence and joy through movement. The program combines gymnastics, dance and sports skills with a unique approach to child development. “We’re the springboard to life’s adventures,” Stephanie says. “Our goal is to help children discover what they’re capable of in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment.”
The Little Gym is non-competitive, and every child is encouraged to celebrate personal milestones. Each class is small, creating an atmosphere where every child can shine. “We meet kids where they are and help them take the next step, whether that’s trying a new skill, making a friend or simply feeling more confident,” Stephanie explains.
Rooted in the Community
Community connection is at the heart of The Little Gym of Asheville. Each month, the gym partners with a local nonprofit to collect donations — from toiletries for Hearts with Hands to pet supplies for The Street Dog Coalition. The team also volunteers quarterly with organizations such as MANNA FoodBank, Mission Children’s Hospital and Smart Start. Through a partnership with Foster Family Alliance of NC, foster children are given the chance to attend classes for free. an opportunity that Stephanie calls “one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.”
For Stephanie, the decision to purchase The Little Gym 11 years ago was deeply personal, but what keeps her going is the daily inspiration she draws from the families who walk through the doors. “I’m inspired by parents who invest in wholesome, positive activities for their children. I’m inspired by the kids whose faces light up when they try something new. And I’m inspired by my team, who show up every day ready to support each child physically, emotionally and cognitively.”
