Brown’s Fine Art & Framing, a beloved Jackson institution, proudly celebrates 60 years as a woman-owned business. Founded in 1965 by Mary Grace Brown, the business is now operated by her daughter and granddaughter, Allison Simmons and Emily Sandoval—a third-generation mother-daughter team continuing the legacy of excellence in fine art and custom framing.

The gallery represents approximately 30 Mississippi and regional artists and offers custom framing services for art, collectibles, and keepsakes. With a deep-rooted passion for both art and community, the team at Brown’s is committed to helping customers preserve their most treasured pieces with care and expertise.

Mary Grace Brown opened Brown’s Frame Shoppe in 1965 while raising three young children alongside her husband, James. Their children—Allison, Joel, and Larry—grew up in the frame shop, surrounded by art and the vibrant Fondren neighborhood. Over the years, Mary Grace worked alongside her daughter Allison and son Joel, passing down not only her skills but also her love for the business.

Allison eventually raised her own two children, Emily and James, within the same creative environment. In 2020, after retiring at the age of 90, Mary Grace passed the torch to Allison and Emily, who officially became the new owners. In 2023, Emily welcomed her son, Lui—now affectionately known as the shop’s youngest greeter.

Originally a frame shop, Brown’s expanded in the 1980s to include original works from local artists. Many of these artists are still represented today, alongside new and emerging talents. The business remains committed to the highest standards in conservation framing, using top-quality materials while ensuring each customer’s vision and aesthetic is honored.

With six decades of artistry, craftsmanship, and family dedication behind them, Brown’s Fine Art & Framing continues to serve as a cornerstone of Jackson’s creative community—where art, legacy, and personal connection beautifully come together.
