The Thomas Family
For more than three decades, Matt and Lori Thomas have built a life centered around family, community, and service in Roswell. From raising four accomplished children to growing a successful family business and giving back through local organizations.
For Matt and Lori Thomas, Brookfield Country Club is much more than a neighborhood—it's home. Deeply rooted in the Roswell community, the Thomases have built a life centered around family, friendship, community involvement, and a passion for giving back.
Matt and Lori have lived in Brookfield Country Club since 2015, but they've spent all 33 years of their marriage within just a few miles of the neighborhood. Before moving to Brookfield, they lived in Chickering and East Cobb. Today, some of their closest friends are neighbors, and it's not uncommon to find them cruising through the neighborhood by golf cart to visit friends or attend community events.
Their story began at Florida State University, where they met in 1989 while traveling to an away football game as members of the Scalphunters student booster organization. The rest, as they say, is history. Matt graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, while Lori earned a degree in Management Information Systems from the College of Business.
Professionally, Matt founded Carpet Depot in 1997 and has grown the company into one of Metro Atlanta's leading flooring businesses, now operating eight locations throughout the region. Lori spent 12 years as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining the family business in 2001 to oversee the financial side of operations. Together, they have built not only a successful company, but one known for supporting local schools, youth athletics, and community organizations.
Family remains at the center of everything they do. Matt and Lori are proud parents of four children: Andrew, Ashley, Emily, and Michael Paul ("MP").
All four children attended Roswell North Elementary, Crabapple Middle School, and Roswell High School. Andrew and MP excelled in lacrosse, both earning All-American honors. Andrew was part of Roswell High School's back-to-back state championship teams before continuing his playing career at Lynchburg College.
MP recently celebrated one of the biggest accomplishments of his athletic career. After transferring to the University of Tampa to pursue a graduate degree in Entrepreneurship, he helped lead the Tampa Spartans to the 2026 NCAA Division II National Championship, playing a key role at the faceoff position during the championship game.
Ashley and Emily were standout athletes as well, competing in gymnastics, tennis, and diving. Today, Ashley works as an Amazon ambassador and social media influencer, while Emily works alongside the family business at Carpet Depot. Andrew has followed in his father's entrepreneurial footsteps and owns Sunny Side Carpet & Flooring.
The Thomas family also includes two beloved dogs—Bella, an 8-year-old chocolate lab, and Zoey, a 4-year-old golden retriever. Their extended family includes five granddogs, two grand cats, and two grand bunnies, making family gatherings lively and full of energy.
When they're not working or spending time with family, Matt and Lori stay busy serving the community. Lori serves as President of the Brookfield Women's Club, plays on several tennis and pickleball teams, and is First Vice President of the Roswell Woman's Club, which recently awarded $165,000 in grants and scholarships to local nonprofits, teachers, and students.
Matt is active with the Roswell Rotary Club and several local business organizations. Together, they are also involved at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, where Lori serves on the Finance Council and Matt participates in the Men's Group.
The Thomases love many of Brookfield's traditions, especially the Fourth of July and Halloween golf cart parades, concerts on the green, and time spent with friends at the club. They also enjoy visiting local favorites such as Lucky's Burger & Brew, Canton Street, and The Standard.
As Brookfield continues to grow and welcome new families, Matt and Lori remain a wonderful example of what makes this community so special—strong family values, lasting friendships, community involvement, and a genuine love for the neighborhood they call home.
