A Note From Hobie, Brookhaven’s Newest High-Speed Neighbor
Hello, neighbors! My name is Hobie, and I am your newest whippet neighbor living over with my favorite humans, the Stewarts. They named me after the famous Hobie Cat sailboats. It is a fitting title because when I catch the wind, I practically skim across the grass with the greatest of ease.
My story began just a little to the east in Gentry, Arkansas. I was born March 5th, and the Stewarts officially adopted me on May 5th, making me just 6 months old. I have a lot of energy that most days lasts into the nights which my owners say is for “sleep”. I’m slowly adapting to their schedule but I did give them lots of sleepless nights the first few months here in Brookhaven.
I follow a very strict, highly professional daily routine. I go for two long walks every single day to keep my athletic physique in tip-top shape. I possess incredible, razor-sharp eyesight designed for seeking out prey. However, I mostly just use my superpower to spot my friends from far away. I am completely fearless and incredibly sociable. I absolutely love kids, dogs, and all humans. I always look forward to seeing my little black frenchie friend on my walks.
My absolute favorite thing in the world is my frisbee. I already masterfully know how to play fetch, and I will happily "sit" on command though, to be honest, I only do it for certain people who happen to hold the very best treats. Right now, I am working really hard on training my humans to throw properly so I can master the art of the mid-air catch.
When I am not practicing my high-speed, dizzying zoomies in the yard, you can find me mastering my two other favorite hobbies: laps and naps. We whippets are notoriously very clean dogs, and we take our relaxation time quite seriously. We also make great service dogs once we get a little older and wiser, so I like to think I am just training for a future career in public service.
If you see my sleek brindle coat and wagging tail out on our daily walks, please stop by and say hello! I am always looking to expand my circle of friends.
