Teddy and Cookie Railsback – Pretty Pomeranians

Relaxing Teddy

Billy and Robin Railsback have been part of Buffalo Creek since the late ’90s, when they bought one of the neighborhood’s first homes on Chantilly Lane. After living in other Rockwall and Heath areas, they returned to Buffalo Creek twice and have called their third house on Signature Court home since 2018.

Billy and Robin have had dogs throughout their 44 years of marriage and are now proud pet parents to two Pomeranians—Teddy and Cookie. Teddy, who is 8 years old this month, has a striking black-and-white coat and a lively personality.  At the time, he joined Crissy, the family’s miniature Australian Shepherd, who crossed the rainbow bridge several years later at the age of 15.  Athletic and fearless, Teddy’s known for running, jumping like a mountain goat, and chasing squirrels (he’s even caught one), rabbits, and birds.

Wanting a companion for Teddy, Billy and Robin brought Cookie to her forever home from a breeder in Greenville. Cookie is now two years old with a soft sable brown-and-white coat and is the more independent, cat-like counterpart to Teddy. She prefers barking—or howling, a trick learned from the Railsbacks’ son’s Husky—while letting Teddy chase the critters in the backyard. Both love the outdoors, especially Cookie who is Billy’s constant companion and shadow when he’s out doing yard work. Both Teddy and Cookie get excited when their leashes come out, signaling it’s time for their daily walk!

Both pups were named after other beloved dogs. Years ago, Billy and Robin cared for a neighbor’s miniature poodle named Teddy and loved him so much they decided to reuse the name for their next dog. “Cookie” was Robin’s favorite for Teddy’s new companion—she’d had a friend with a puppy named Cookie—but Billy needed convincing. She eventually let their grandson choose from three options, and he picked Cookie, a perfect fit for her sweet personality.

Aside from the occasional bite of cheese—Teddy can somehow hear the fridge’s cheese drawer open—the Railsbacks avoid giving their pups people food, though Teddy once jumped onto the table and devoured a whole plate of BBQ! Both dogs enjoy chewing on pig ears and curly sticks, and every day, without fail, Cookie reminds Robin the moment the clock strikes five—it’s dinner time!

Pomeranians are often called ideal companions, and Billy and Robin wholeheartedly agree—especially Billy, whom Robin agrees both dogs clearly favor. Known for being alert, intelligent, trainable, and friendly, Pomeranians also make excellent watchdogs. Teddy and Cookie embody all these traits, filling the Railsback home with laughter, love, and joy.
