Matthew and Lauren and their three children: Malachi, Laurel June, and Joshua

Matthew and Lauren Noxsel grew up in Mason, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. As members of the same high school class, they never considered dating until they reconnected over Christmas break while home from college. Matthew was attending The Ohio State University and Lauren was attending Lipscomb University in Nashville. Prior to their relationship, Lauren had plans to transfer to the University of Georgia, which she did. After months of traveling across states for their relationship, Matthew took a big risk and transferred to Georgia, too. It paid off. Lauren and Matthew married in December 2012.

Both graduated from Georgia, Matthew earning his BA in English and Lauren her BA in Psychology. Lauren started a student organization, UP at UGA, helping pregnant students and student moms successfully reach graduation.

In 2016, Lauren earned her ABSN from Emory University, serving as class President. After working as a nurse for a year, Lauren went on to earn her Doctorate of Nursing Practice, with a specialty in Family Practice, from Augusta University in 2020. She now works locally as a nurse practitioner at Evexias Medical Center, specializing in hormone therapies.

Also in 2016, Matthew began law school at the University of Georgia, serving as President of the Federalist Society and the Christian Legal Society. Upon graduation, Matthew clerked for Judge Elizabeth Branch of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, in Atlanta. He then accepted a second year-long clerkship with Judge Drew Tipton of the Southern District of Texas, in Corpus Christi. Lauren, being 34 weeks pregnant, negotiated that she would agree to move to Texas only if they lived on the beach. Matthew obliged. Their year living on North Padre Island was unforgettable.

Before the end of the Texas Clerkship, the Noxsels knew Texas was their permanent home. Today, Matthew is an attorney with the global law firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in Dallas, and he invests in real estate on the side.

After moving to Dallas, the Noxsels rented a home in Lakeside Village while house hunting in the Rockwall area. Soon, they had their eye on Buffalo Creek. They were attracted to its established trees and the golf course. They found their home in early 2024 and, after a number of renovations, moved in this past June.

Malachi is 7 and is in 1st grade at Providence Academy.  Malachi has all the signs of a budding engineer, favoring math and regularly taking apart every complex toy he gets his hands on. He is very outgoing, joyful, and a loving big brother. For fun, he hits golf balls with dad and practices Brazilian jiu jitsu.

Laurel June is 4 and a girly-girl through and through. She will happily put on an apron to help Lauren bake cookies and loves to play dress-up with high heels and mom’s jewelry. She enjoys gymnastics, ballet, and painting, and has dreams of someday owning a horse.

The youngest Noxsel, Joshua, is 2 and is currently obsessed with hitting balls—baseballs and golf balls are his favorite. Although he’s a rough-and-tumble kid who loves to wrestle around, he is regularly found cuddling up with the Noxsel’s golden retriever, Daisy.

The Noxsels are active in their church, Storehouse Dallas in Farmers Branch. They love the outdoors, playing pickleball and golf, and taking family bike rides. They regularly take their kids for a burger at Wells Cattle Company, but on date night, Lauren and Matthew will patronize Zanata’s or Standard Service.

We welcome our new neighbors, the Noxsel family, to the neighborhood and wish them many years of joy and making family memories together in Buffalo Creek.
