Before you even step inside the Granberry home, you're likely to hear the pitter-patter of four precious pups. Longtime dog lovers Brandon and Stephanie, along with their children Peyton, Payne, and twins Crawford and Callan, share their home with a loyal pack of sweet four-legged companions.

Shep is the Granberrys' 7-year-old Australian Shepherd and unquestioned alpha of the pack. The family welcomed him home at just 8 weeks old on the first anniversary of Peyton's "re-birthday"—one year after her life-saving bone marrow transplant. Peyton chose his fitting name, though Brandon sometimes calls him "Chappa" for no particular reason. Intelligent, stubborn, and never shy about making himself heard, Shep leads the pack with confidence.

Major, another Australian Shepherd who turns 2 in October, joined the Granberry family at 12 weeks old as a 2024 Christmas surprise for Brandon. Sweet, loyal, inquisitive, and feisty, Major is especially devoted to Brandon. Though he lost hearing in one ear after a severe reaction to medication for an ear infection, he hasn't let it slow him down. Still full of puppy energy, he respects Shep's role as pack leader and has become best buddies with Scout, Payne's Coonhound. His name is a nod to professional golf's four major championships—and as the family's fourth dog, it was a fitting choice.

Scout, a 3-year-old Coonhound, found his forever home after Payne rescued him just before the 2023 snowstorm. While playing basketball with a friend in Quinlan, Payne spotted the puppy emerging from the woods after hearing the bouncing ball. Unable to find his owner, Payne was determined to bring him home and for weeks nursed him back to health. Today, Scout is a strong, healthy dog known for his sweet nature, booming bark, and exceptional sense of smell. He loves exploring the family's ranch, happily tracking wildlife scents for hours. Payne named him Scout as a tribute to the military.

At 10 years old, Duff is the oldest member of the pack and a true rescue. One of 24 dogs saved from a hoarder's home, he caught Brandon's eye in an online photo from a Houston-area shelter. Although the listing mistakenly described his brother, Duff—then named Puff—made the decision easy by immediately jumping up to Brandon. Brandon renamed the Chihuahua-Westie mix "Duff," another nod to the family's love of golf. These days, Duff is Stephanie's constant companion, content to relax indoors while the younger dogs chase rabbits and squirrels outside.

All of the dogs enjoy their daily walks—except Duff, who seems to dislike the leash, though the family suspects he may just be a little lazy! Shep, ever the herder, naturally leads the pack on their outdoor adventures. His favorite lookout spot is the family trampoline, where he can keep watch over the yard—and the neighbors.

Before their current quartet, Brandon and Stephanie shared their early married years with two beloved dogs—Rudy, a Cocker Spaniel, and Emmitt, a Chocolate Lab. Lifelong dog lovers, the Granberrys know their four-legged companions are more than pets—they're cherished members of the family who bring endless love and joy.
