The Jalil Family
Healing Lives, Strengthening Community!
Meet our inspirational cover models! Both kind and courageous, Dr. Omar Jalil and Dr.Tisha Tipnis are two wound care physicians dedicated to improve lives through compassionate care. They live beyond the white coats, balancing their careers and relationship with ease. What was intended to be a quick session turned into an afternoon of photo journaling. Their Atlanta team (Ashley and Dana) were lovely to work. Omar and Tisha are caring and professional in addition to being extremely photogenic. Meet your neighbors, two people who are leading with passion and living with purpose.
What do you love most about living in Chastain Park?
We love the community with tons of greenery and friendly people. People like to be outdoors and everyone is friendly. There are so many fun local places to get a bite to eat or grab a cup of coffee with friends.
What college / university did you attend? What subject(s) did you major in, and what degree(s) did you obtain?
Dr. Tipnis and I graduated from Saba University School of Medicine, where I earned my Medical Degree, and subsequently completed our medical residency from Western Reserve Care Systems in Ohio.
How did you and your spouse meet?
We met in medical school. We were Gross Anatomy partners.
Tell us a little about your team and their roles.
The foundation of our medical practice has always been about our team. Having worked for decades in the healthcare field, we have met so many people that went into healthcare for the right reasons, but no longer love their jobs. Our vision was to create a healthy and supportive environment where good people could use the skills they acquired to do great work. Our team is very supportive of each other, and passionate about the care we deliver. Happy team members are better at healing others than unhappy team members.
What do your enjoy doing in your free time?
Family time is the best time. We like to play and watch tennis. We like to explore local cuisines. When we travel, we are always looking for a good beach spot.
If you could share 3 things about your business that you wish more people knew what would they be?
Wound care and Hyperbaric Medicine is not as well known as other fields of medicine. Our mission is to increase the level of awareness so that people with wound and wound related issues know that they have experts to turn to. We consider any disruption in the integrity of the skin to be a wound, and no wound is too simple or too complex for us to join our patients on the healing journey.
What do you love most about your spouse?
Dr. Tipnis (Tisha) is kind, smart and very generous. She has a great sense of wit and humor. Nothing beats having a great laugh with her.
How do you celebrate holidays or special occasions as a family?
Once or twice a year we will travel to meet up with Dr. Tipnis' sister's family, including our two nephews. Otherwise we love a quiet celebration at home with our family.
What are your favorite places to visit around the community (restaurants, food markets, shops, parks, clubs, hangout spots, etc.)?
Our favorite restaurant is The Chastain! We love breakfast or lunch at Cafe Vendome. Chastain park is a great place to walk and meet our neighbors.
Do you participate in any social activities or events in the neighborhood?
Yes, we occasionally like to attend events when held at Chastain Park and at the nearby Sandy Spring city center.
How does your family contribute to fostering a sense of community spirit in the neighborhood? Do you participate in any philanthropic events or work with any charity organizations?
As a family, we like to attend community events. Our son also volunteers at a local church to help to distribute donated food to the needy.
Describe your favorite family memory in the neighborhood so far. What's your favorite part of living in the neighborhood?
We love the safe and family atmosphere in the neighborhood. Some of our favorite memories are walking with the children in the neighborhood during halloween and interacting with many community members that we do not get to see as often as we like.
