The Mitchells Help Heros First Foundation Raise $100,000 for Veteran Programs
Heroes First Foundation is an organization dedicated to championing the cause of those who've selflessly served our nation. From supporting paws4vets to assisting first responders and other veteran-related initiatives, Heroes First Foundation stands as a beacon of hope for those in need.
At the forefront of their mission is the incredible work of paws4vets, an organization specializing in breeding, training, and providing support dogs to veterans and first responders grappling with the weight of PTSD and other related challenges. The symbiotic relationship between heroes and their loyal canine companions is nothing short of remarkable.
One of the most prominent feathers in Heroes First Foundation's cap is their annual golf tournament, a fundraising extravaganza that has become a cornerstone of their philanthropic efforts. Over the past 13 years, this event has contributed an astounding $1,200,000 towards the cause.
This year, on May 17, after a hiatus spanning over a decade, the grand tournament found its home at the Chateau Elan. The event attracted an impressive roster of 280 golfers, accompanied by representatives from a plethora of esteemed organizations, including paws4vets, Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program, Chateau Elan Military Support Foundation, and various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The camaraderie and collective sense of purpose were palpable.
Carol and Doug Mitchell, residents of Chateau Elan for over two decades, stand as a testament to the power of these organizations. Their son, a two-time Iraq tour veteran, returned home bearing the invisible scars of severe PTSD. The Mitchells firmly believe that their son's life was saved through the intervention of paws4vets and his dedicated service dog. Numerous veterans, along with their service dogs, were in attendance.
Doug Mitchell expressed his gratitude, stating, "We were also fortunate to have many of our very generous sponsors at our event. We were able to present a check to paws4vets totaling $90,000 and extend a helping hand with a $10,000 donation to the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program." Heroes First Foundation, through their unwavering dedication, achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first donor to contribute a staggering $1,000,000 to the paws4vets program.
Such incredible feats are not achieved in isolation. Doug Mitchell aptly acknowledges, "Without the support and generosity of everyone listed below and the support of our local community, none of that would have been possible." The community's boundless support and unwavering commitment to our heroes form the bedrock upon which these remarkable initiatives thrive.
As Heroes First Foundation and its allies continue their vital work, it's evident that their steadfast dedication and community engagement have the power to transform lives, heal wounds, and restore hope to those who have given so much in service to our nation. In this tale of heroes uniting for a greater cause, we find inspiration and a shining example of the indomitable human spirit.
