What influenced you to choose to be a doctor? I had multiple bad experiences when I was young and was on the wrong path. I had several people help me to correct my ways. That inspired me to want to do some thing to help people similar to the way I had been helped. That led me to pursue medicine.
What made you choose your specialty? I wanted to be able to provide assistance in multiple ways without being overly broad. IM did provide that opportunity.
Professional place of practice: Robert works at Northside Diagnostic Clinic in Gainesville and has privileges at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Northside, a psychiatric hospital.
Advice for aspiring doctors: Find something that inspires you to push through on the long journey and stay focused. Do not go into medicine just to make money or because your mother wants you to.
Fun fact: Roberto was inspired to specialize in internal medicine by a desire to provide assistance in multiple ways without being overly broad. In his free time, Roberto enjoys golfing and running competitively, and he is a former triathlete.
