AmVet for All Your Transit Needs
“Let the Journey Begin”
The newest addition to the Sosebee Family
The motto of AMVET is “Let the Journey Begin” has dual meanings. The first meaning is that Ted and Kelli Sosebee began their “Journey” by starting up their own business, American Veterans Transit (AMVET) in April 2021. The second meaning is that AMVET was created for the community to provide a service that is much needed. Amvet is a transportation service that provides airport service, local transit, group outings as well as business trips.
Ted Sosebee is originally from Chatsworth, GA, where he graduated from Murray County High School. Ted joined the service shortly after graduation; he served in the U.S. Army for five years as a Helicopter airframe mechanic. He served in deployments to Korea, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. While in the service, Ted earned three Army Achievement Medals, The National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and The Southwest Asia Campaign Medal.
Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Ted settled down in the Gainesville area and began his next journey in life. In thirty years of working in the public workforce, he has worked in Aluminium Extrusions, Vinyl windows, and door mfg, worked with the State Department of Transportation on a field survey crew, and supervisor and manager level positions in various distribution centers. While working these positions he always thought about owning his own business but was too scared to “step out.” While raising a family and working full time in leadership roles he decided to further his education to improve his knowledge and set an example for his four children. With the full support of Kelli, Ted was able to attend Gainesville College using the GI Bill to earn an AA in Business. As his positions grew he earned a BA in Operations Management and eventually an MBA from Brenau University.
Kelli was born and raised in Jefferson, GA. She attended and graduated from Jefferson High School. After graduation, Kelli pursued a degree as a microcomputer specialist at Lanier Tech in Gainesville, GA. Kelli worked for the home place and several doctor's offices as a data analyst until the couple decided that she would be a stay-at-home mom, which is the toughest job known to be in existence. Kelli did a fantastic job raising four terrific kids while maintaining a house and raising the kids how to be mannerly and be productive adults!
Kaleb, their oldest child, graduated from Point University, where he played on the tennis team. He earned a degree in education and is currently the lead tennis pro at Moores Mill Country Club. He is married to his college sweetheart, Peyton Kardoes of LaGrange, GA. They have two children, Mattison (8) and Kai (4 months).
Ashton is currently a sophomore at Young Harris College where he has been on the Dean's List for three semesters. He is also playing on the tennis team as a key doubles player. Ashton has the intention of transferring to UGA for the last two years. He is earning his degree in Business. Kendall graduated from East Jackson High School and briefly worked at McCluskey Tennis Center as a local pro. Kendall is in the process of joining the United States Air Force. He will do his basic training in San Antonio, Texas, then go to individual training and learn how to perform aircraft airframe and structural repair.
Rylee is currently a senior at East Jackson High School. She is on the tennis team and has played in the number 1 singles position for four years. Rylee currently serves as the official audio and video manager for the Football and Basketball teams respectively. She plans on attending Kennesaw State and earning a degree in Videography and Photography.
Through a sad turn of events, many opportunities arose and the couple realized that this was the time to no longer be scared. They looked at the area and analyzed what was the biggest need for their surrounding community. The area has grown so much in the past 30 years with vast subdivisions, 55 and over communities, distribution centers, and multiple communities of townhomes. These communities needed a transportation service to take guests to the airport, on wine tours, the casino, sporting events, or any travel need that may occur. The decision was made.
American Veterans Transit LLC (Amvet) was formed in November of 2020. Still, in the midst of the covid pandemic, the decision was made to hold off the grand opening until April of 2021. However, preparations were made to hit the ground running. A 2019 Toyota 4 Runner was purchased to make airport trips and a 2019 14-passenger Ford Transit High Top van was purchased.
Ted offers this message for Inside the Gates:
“Imagine traveling back from a long tiresome vacation trip or just a business trip that won't seem to end until you get home. The problem is that you have to wait to get off the airplane, walk to the end of the terminal, take the escalator down and get on the train and ride to baggage claim, locate your bags, walk outside and dread finding your car in a sea of insanity. Drive your car to the gate, pay an unholy fee just to park in their lot, and then face the Atlanta gauntlet, Traffic.”
Now flip the script :
“Imagine landing and making one text and then waiting less than 5 minutes, and you are sitting in the back of a comfortable highly safety-rated vehicle and leaning back and resting for the ride home. You can recount fond memories of the trip, call your dog sitter, tell family and friends that you are on the way home. No worries about traffic or stress-related issues. Just happy to get home safely!”
The lighter side of work is fun and that begins with the AMVET 14-passenger van with some of your best friends, co-workers, or even family. Get comfortable, have a cool beverage, and let the “Journey” begin. Regardless of the destination, you're traveling with the people you are most comfortable with such as family and friends. As a client, you will never have to worry about the traffic or any of the stress related to getting a large group of people from point A to point B, then home again safely.
In these scenarios is where Amvet thrives! Being 100% customer-focused gives the clients the opportunity for each person to create their own ”Journey.” Once initial contact has been made via the website or phone conversation, the stress-free part of your trip has begun.
