The Braselton Rotary Brings Christmas to Those in Need

Stacy Lacy and Sue Wyatt

Every year since 2003, the Braselton Rotary celebrates the season of Christmas with a children’s Christmas party. The Rotarians organize the reverse raffle fundraiser in the fall to help fund the party. This year, Rotarians, friends, family members, and co-workers helped purchase toys and clothing for families in the local area who are in need. They were able to provide gifts for 83 children from almost 32 families. The Christmas party was held at the West Jackson Elementary School. On the night of the Christmas party, each family was greeted at the door in the school lunchroom. Then, the families were treated to dinner with Rotarians, serving burgers, pizza, cookies, and drinks for the whole family. The adults and children were entertained by a magic show, face painters, and a visit from Santa.

Mill Creek High School Interact Club helped with this event, as well. The high school students helped with crafts at the event. Some of the students were able to help serve food, carry gifts to cars and assist with the clean-up. This was a great way for the students to experience the motto of the Rotary Club “Service above Self.” There were approximately 45 Braselton Rotarians who helped with the Christmas party. They either helped through fundraising, collecting, and wrapping gifts, or hands-on at the event.

Our members and supporters make a difference in their community and the world with their personal investments of time and effort – they truly are business people with hearts for service.
