Tim Johnson Shares his Military Family legacy
Over 100 Years of Courage and Commitment
The Johnson Family
What does it take to follow in the footsteps of a family whose military legacy spans more than a century? For Tim Johnson, it meant embracing a calling that combined courage, dedication, and a sense of adventure. Growing up in a household where service was not just respected but lived—his father a B-52 pilot and his brothers serving in the Air Force—Tim learned early that there is no higher honor than serving your country. Together they provided over 100 years of service to the Air Force.
Tim’s journey took him from the skies over Virginia in the 71st Fighter Squadron as the adjutant in a front-line F-15 fighter squadron, to the deserts of Nevada with the F-117A Stealth Fighter. He deployed to Saudi Arabia where he ran wing operations during Desert Storm and later to Qatar, where he led media operations for Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. Along the way, he earned distinctions like the Meritorious Service Medal and a number of Air Force Commendation Medals, yet he says the most rewarding moments came from experiencing the world, meeting new people, and learning different cultures—adventures that few get to enjoy while building a military career.
Even as he pursued professional excellence, Tim’s greatest pride came from his family. His wife, Ann, balances her role as Chief Accounting Officer at Georgia Pacific while managing a bustling household. Their children and their spouses reflect the same drive and dedication: Tim Jr., a technical solutions engineer at Google Cloud Solutions, is engaged to Judith Mugabi who is a distinguished musician; Allie, a sales manager at Q4, Inc., is married to Tevon Walker who is a robotics and AI engineer at Home Depot, and together they have their son, Maddox; Holly is pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, and Kendall, a former Division I soccer player, is now preparing for medical school. Completing the family are two golden retrievers, Cooper and Bella, who ensure the home is never quiet.
Through deployments, long hours, and global assignments, Tim never lost sight of what mattered most. He and Ann actively support veteran organizations like Tunnels to Towers and Wounded Warrior, as well as more local organizations like the Chateau Elan Military Support Foundation (CEMSF). He encourages young people considering the Air Force to pursue their passions. “Always work harder than the person next to you and never stop educating yourself!” Off duty, you’ll often find Tim on the golf course, perfecting his swing with the same discipline he applied to his career.
For Tim Johnson, life has always been about balance—between duty and family, adventure and responsibility, service and joy. It’s a story of honor, achievement, and love, and it’s far from finished.
