My uncle served for 20-plus years.

As a veteran, could you share some of your background? (rank, service, where you were stationed or deployed, what countries have you lived in? etc.)
Rank: SPC. Service: Army (automated logistics specialists (92A)). I was stationed in the beautiful state of Washington at the Joint Base Lewis McChord base.

What was your favorite experience and/or location you served?
My favorite experience while serving was meeting new battles with different cultures from all over the world. As an immigrant, it is always interesting to see individuals like myself and share/exchange culture. I also enjoyed being stationed at JBLM because this particular base merged with Air Force. There were multiple facilities and activities for every to enjoy.

What is your favorite part about living in the neighborhood?
My favorite part about living in the community is the facilities that Chateau Elan offers, such as the sports club, especially for the kids. Having that sense of security for my family and me is essential. Chateau Elan is a great community to grow kids. I like how the community is close to the highway so commuting to the city is a breeze.

Is there anything else we should know about you, your family, or your business?
My husband and I were born and grew up in Jamaica. We love enjoying each other's company. This year, 2022, has been a somewhat positive whirlwind for us because we moved across the country (from Washington). We also had a new baby, and how exciting I have finally received my degree — Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management. I started my business after I medically retired from the military. Opulent Allure By Tiahna, since its inception in 2019, has tailored and made wigs (hairpieces) for over 1000 women. We strive to have not only quality products but also customer service and empathy for each of our clients. This beauty business is solely run by me and sometimes I recruit my husband and daughter. Being an entrepreneur and stay-at-home mom has taught me how to be patient and also how to prioritize each task.

Entrepreneurship also enabled me to use my military teachings, such as being disciplined and never giving up until each task is completed. I am the author of a time management book written in 2021 that talks about managing time and understanding which tasks are important right away. As a family unit, we also love to cook, and I am getting the hang of social media development and content creation. How will I do this? I will return to Youtube to catch memories with my family and me. My husband and I recently started our trucking company, TC Ten Logistics. We hope to expand in the incoming months and land on recurring contracts and hauls. As a couple, we strive to be the best example to our kids. We like to be aware of what is happening around us and how best to protect our girls and create generational wealth for them.

What would you tell someone who just moved into the neighborhood?
Embrace the culture here. Nowhere is perfect, but this neighborhood is close to perfect, especially when the gates are in operation.
