What influenced you to choose to be a doctor? Always wanted to help others get better and medicine and health always appealed to me. I was always impressed with the doctors I saw when I was younger and I wanted to be like them.

What made you choose your specialty? Selected orthopedic surgery because it really aligned with my personal outlook.  I want to help people get better by doing something about it.

Advice for aspiring doctors: Make sure this is what you want to do for yourself! Don't feel the pressure of family expectations because it won't be worth the sacrifices you have to make for many years. Also, don't go into lifelong debt to pay for medical school! The military has great programs to pay for your school while paying you and training you, and the commitment afterward is worth the financial freedom!

Fun fact: Dan played soccer most of his life, and I played tennis in high school.
