“Let the Journey Begin” is more than a motto for American Veterans Transit. It embodies the mission and vision behind the company and the personal story that drives it. Ted Sosebee has been serving Northeast Georgia since 2021. AmVet provides reliable and safe transportation for a wide range of needs, including airport trips, sporting events, wine tours, weddings, date nights, concerts, and anything in between. Ted grew up in Chatsworth, Georgia, and lived there until joining the U.S. Army. His service took him across the globe, including Korea, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He earned multiple honors, including three Army Achievement Medals, the National Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Southwest Asia Campaign Medal. After leaving the Army, Ted relocated to Dawson County, Georgia, pursued higher education, and has lived in North Georgia since 1991.
The idea for AmVet came from recognizing a need in his community for dependable transportation and a desire to support veterans. “I saw an opportunity to help people and give back to those who have served,” Ted explains. With determination, planning, and the support of local organizations such as SCORE and the Chateau Elan Military Support Foundation, AmVet officially launched in 2021. Over the past five years, the company has grown from a single car and a 14-passenger van to a team of four dedicated employees, all focused on providing safe, comfortable, and personalized service.
What sets AmVet apart is its adaptability and the team’s dedication to client relationships. Ted’s connections and the team’s professionalism allow the company to accommodate a wide variety of transportation needs, and their personality and communication make every ride feel personal. “The most fulfilling part of what we do is the relationships we’ve built over the past five years,” he says. He reflects on seeing students at the University of Georgia graduate and move into exciting careers, grateful to have been part of their journeys.
Family has always been central to Ted’s life. He enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children. Kaleb runs SOS Tennis Academy in LaGrange, Georgia, and is raising a family with his wife Peyton and their two sons, Kai and Light. Ashton is a University of Georgia graduate with a degree in Risk Management and now pursues coaching tennis along with other personal goals. Kendall serves as a Senior Airman in the Air Force, working on armament systems for the B2 bomber. Rylee is a senior at the University of Georgia in the Grady School of Journalism and Photography, planning a career in sports media at the collegiate or professional level.
Giving back to the community is also a priority for Ted. He supports the Chateau Elan Military Support Foundation and the Winder Resource Center, helping veterans and local families in need. Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be an exciting year for AmVet, with new updates and options that will make booking rides even easier for clients.
More than just a transportation company, AmVet represents a commitment to service and community. Each ride reflects the care, professionalism, and personal touch that Ted and his team bring to their work.
