Chateau Donate & Clean-Up for a Cause Event Saves Lives!

The Chateau Charity & Care Team hosted another Chateau Donate & Clean-Up for a Cause Event on Saturday, Feb 11th. We identified and coordinated the following organizations that would benefit from this effort:

LifeSouth is a mobile community blood center.  The Chateau Elan community came out strong to donate blood with 36 registered donors which resulted in 33 units of blood, with two being double donors.  When you consider that each unit can save up to three lives it is easy to see the impact that your efforts had on the community to save up to 99 lives! LifeSouth serves over 30 hospitals throughout Georgia (including Northeast Georgia Medical Center), and they are the sole or primary supplier for multiple hospitals in the metro Atlanta area. The partnership is key. Their motto is “it takes a whole community to save a life.”

Chateau Elan Military Support Foundation was on-site to collect needed items for the Veterans and their families. Thanks to the residents of Chateau Elan we filled a vehicle with food to go to the Barrow County Veteran Resource Center located in Winder, Georgia. The center is a one-stop-shop for Veterans who need assistance with VA Claims, job searches, housing, PTSD, and more.

Peace Place, Inc. empowers survivors and families and engages our communities to break the cycle of domestic violence. Peace Place operates a thrift store in Jefferson to support the financial needs of the organization. 100% of the profits directly benefit the Peace Place, Inc. Emergency Shelter. Unfortunately, the Peace Place box truck broke down on the way to the event, HOWEVER, in true Chateau Elan resident fashion, various residents loaded their vehicles to take items to the Peace Place warehouse. To donate or learn more about peace place go to peaceplaceinc.org

Memorial Park was part of the event cooking hotdogs and collecting donations for CE Military Support Foundation. A BIG THANK YOU goes to Mitch Blinn, his wife ____ and coworker Lisa! We appreciate your cooking skills and be at the event! And Ted Sosebee with AmVet Transit came out to support the event and answer questions about his services.

Also, a BIG THANK YOU to all who came out to support these amazing causes!  The event was such a success! Watch for the next Chateau Charity & Care Team event on the Neighborhood Happenings and Chateau Elan Neighborhood Homeowners Only Facebook pages and on Dwelling Live Emails.

A special thanks to all the volunteers of the Chateau Charity & Care Team. If you would like to join the team to “do good in the neighborhood”, reach out to STROLLCE@n2co.com
