Cohasset Woodworks
How Frank Cicchetti Crafts Homes with Heart and Precision
For many, a career path is a straight line. For Frank Cicchetti, it was more like a finely crafted dovetail joint—unexpected, but perfectly fitting.
In February 2024, Frank launched Cohasset Woodworks, transforming more than two decades of woodworking passion into a full-time business. After years of balancing his creative hobby with a demanding career as a CPA in private equity and a Big 4 accounting firm, it was the birth of his daughter that gave him the motivation to make the leap.
“I knew I wanted to work for myself building things at some point,” Frank shares. “Becoming a dad gave me the kick in the butt I needed to finally do it.”
From Numbers to Notches
Frank’s appreciation for craftsmanship began early, thanks to his grandmother, Elaine, who “flipped” antiques. Watching her restore and transform pieces sparked his fascination with the details of fine woodworking. That passion stayed with him: as a young adult, he sold handmade furniture to help pay for graduate school.
Fast forward ten years, and Frank is now channeling that same dedication and artistry into Cohasset homes. His projects range from custom built-ins, cabinets, and furniture to wall paneling and wainscoting. Whether it’s a living room built-in, a functional mudroom, or a piece of furniture that fits a family’s style and space perfectly, Frank brings a personal touch that mass-produced options simply can’t provide.
“There’s no shortage of talented carpenters and builders who take on large renovations and new builds,” he explains. “I wanted to offer something different—custom solutions that make a family’s current home work better for them.”
Rooted in Community
Originally from Vermont, Frank moved to Boston in 2016 for his accounting career. A year later, he met his wife, Erin, and by 2020, the couple decided to trade city living for coastal charm.
“We fell in love with Cohasset immediately,” Frank says. Today, the couple lives in a historic home built in the 1850s just up the hill from the village with their two-year-old daughter, Brynn, and their husky mix, Norm. In a heartwarming twist, Erin’s parents also relocated from western Massachusetts to join them in Cohasset, solidifying the family’s roots in the community.
Frank’s work is just as local as his lifestyle. “Nearly all of my projects are in Cohasset or the surrounding towns,” he notes. “My workshop, my work, and my family are all here. I love contributing to the homes and spaces of the community we’re raising our daughter in.”
What Sets Cohasset Woodworks Apart
At the heart of Cohasset Woodworks is attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. Frank emphasizes that clients work directly with him, not with a rotation of subcontractors. “I won’t call a job complete until it’s perfect and the client is 100% happy,” he says.
That dedication to excellence—combined with his ability to work on projects that don’t require a full-scale renovation—fills a niche between large-scale contractors and DIY solutions.
This approach has quickly built him a loyal client base, and projects are lining up. One upcoming highlight is a modern rift White Oak bathroom vanity and large living room built-in for a new Duxbury home. It’s his first project with a well-regarded design-build company, marking an exciting new chapter in his growing portfolio.
Looking ahead, Frank hopes to expand his services to include custom kitchen builds, a natural extension of his detail-oriented woodworking.
“Working with Frank was a true pleasure,” says one client, Liz B. “His calm, professional, no-pressure demeanor immediately makes you feel as though you are working with a trusted friend. His work is absolutely stunning and his prices are fair. We can’t wait to work with him again for our next project.”
A Leap of Faith That Paid Off
Every business owner faces challenges, and for Frank, the biggest hurdle was simply making the decision to step away from a stable, successful career to pursue his passion.
But he has no regrets.
“People say if you turn your hobby into a job, you’ll lose the joy in it,” he reflects. “For me, that hasn’t been true at all. I’ve loved every minute of it and look forward to many more years of doing what I love.”
His advice for others in the community who might be hesitating on their own leap of faith? “Dive in headfirst. You won’t regret it.”
