O'Dell Family
Four Years of Front Porch Swings, Three Busy Boys, and a Whole Lot of Gratitude
The Road to Anderson
For Susan and Patrick Odell, the move to our neighborhood in March 2022 felt less like a change of address and more like a homecoming. Susan, having grown up in Anderson Township, always knew this was the place she wanted to raise a family. Patrick, originally from Springfield, fell in love with Cincinnati after college.
The couple settled here just as their family began to grow. Now, they couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. With three active boys—Maddox (8), Frankie (6), and baby PJ (6 months)—the spacious yards and quiet streets of our community have become the backdrop for a very busy, very happy life.
A Connection Decades in the Making
The Odell story actually began in Mt. Adams at a University of Dayton alumni event (Go Flyers!). While they shared a love for their alma mater and similar upbringings in Catholic schools, it was a discovery shortly after they met that felt like fate.
Patrick’s grandfather realized that he had actually worked at the same company as Susan’s grandfather some 50 years earlier. Both men eventually went on to start their own manufacturing businesses in their respective hometowns—businesses that are still family-run to this day. To honor this shared legacy of hard work and family business, Susan and Patrick named their son Frankie (Louis Francesco) after both of them.
Porch Swings and Backyard Bases
If you pass the Odell home, you’ll likely see the family making the most of every square inch of their property. “When the weather is nice, we love eating dinner on the back porch,” Susan shares. “But we also love sitting on our front porch swing just to ‘watch the world go by.’”
Life here is a stark contrast to city living, and the Odells take full advantage of the extra space. Their yard is a dedicated zone for baseball, football, and evening bonfires, while the driveway stays buzzing with bike races.
The best part of their location? The mobility. Whether it’s by bike, foot, or golf cart, the Odells love being just around the corner from the Anderson Hills Swim Club.
Summer on the Water & Athletics
The Odells are a family that stays on the move. In the summer months, you’ll find them boating on the Ohio River, Brookville Lake, or venturing down to Norris and Lake Cumberland. When they aren’t on the water, they are regulars at the swim club.
As the air turns crisp, the focus shifts to sports and local flavor. Maddox loves football, basketball, and baseball, while Frankie enjoys playing basketball, baseball, and riding his bike. Between games, the family frequents local favorites like Mio’s on 8 Mile, Wandering Monster, and El Coyote. To escape the Cincinnati gray, they often head south to Florida or Hilton Head.
Heart for the Community
Community involvement is a pillar for the family. Maddox and Frankie attend Guardian Angels School, where Susan and Patrick are active volunteers. From Anderson Parks summer camps to local community events, the Odells are fully immersed in suburban life.
Next time you see their golf cart heading toward the pool or a baseball game in the front yard, be sure to wave hello to Patrick, Susan, and the boys!
