Earthsystems: A Lowcountry Legacy Built on Family, Quality, and Integrity
Andy and Wyatt
Our story begins with Andy Richdale, who moved to the Lowcountry from Newburyport, Massachusetts, 45 years ago. Before founding Earthsystems, Andy helped shape Hilton Head Island as one of the original owners of the iconic yellow Fun Cycle banana bikes—a staple of island life from the mid-1980s through the early 2000s. His entrepreneurial spirit and tireless work ethic were evident early on, as he moved bikes from one end of the island to the other seven days a week through the heat of summer and into the cooler months.
As winter approached and tourism slowed, Andy worked part-time for one of the area’s pioneering irrigation installation and service companies. When new regulations impacted beach access and delivery for the Fun Cycle business, he made the decision to sell and start his own irrigation company. He built the business from the ground up through long days, hard work, and hands-on dedication. Those early years laid the foundation for what Earthsystems would become—and ultimately inspired his son to join him.
I’m Wyatt Richdale, proud co-owner of Earthsystems. Born and raised on Hilton Head Island, I’ve spent all 32 years of my life in the Lowcountry. Some of my earliest memories involve tagging along on job sites, watching my father work, and learning firsthand that quality is a responsibility—not an option. He taught me that customers are not transactions; they are relationships built through communication, accountability, and integrity. Today, working alongside my father is one of my greatest honors.
We remain personally invested in every project we take on, because this community is not just where we work—it’s where we live, raise our families, and put down roots. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our two Goldendoodles, and our energetic two-year-old son, Boston. Andy treasures his role as “Grandpa,” and when he’s not with family or on a job site, you’ll likely find him at the gym—his daily reset after years of training and competing in NPC Masters Physique competitions.
The following testimonial reflects what we believe truly separates Earthsystems from the competition:
“For those considering Earthsystems, stop your search—you will not find a better company whose foundation is based on character, dependability, and the highest standards of quality craftsmanship. Andy and his team are absolute professionals, and working with them was an incredible experience from start to finish. Andy’s creativity and leadership transformed our backyard beyond what we ever imagined, and his dedication was unmatched—far exceeding any contractor we’ve worked with in the past. Even when ARB-related delays arose, Andy handled every challenge seamlessly and professionally. With our daughter’s wedding approaching and a tight deadline, Andy and his team went above and beyond to ensure everything was completed on time. Thanks to their tireless efforts, the wedding weekend was absolutely perfect. Our backyard is now a true oasis—complete with a putting green my husband loves! Andy, Wyatt, and the entire Earthsystems crew bring an unmatched work ethic and commitment to excellence. We could not be happier.” —Tom and Bridget McCall
