Is there a story behind how you got your name?
River-
When I first joined the family we lived on the Merrimack River in Point Shore, Amesbury, MA.  We all had just moved there and it was a perfect name!

Barton-
I came from a breeder in Oxford, MA.  When we were leaving to come to my new home, we saw a sign that said Oxford is the birthplace of Clara Barton- the founder of the American Red Cross.  So there it was and it fit me just right!  Some people around here think my name is “Button” when Kathryn introduces me to them- it might be something to do with their hearing? or MAYBE it could be her “supposedly heavy Boston accent”.

Tell us a special talent of yours:
River-
My special power is my ability to catch a scent anywhere and anytime.  My walks are filled with sniffing everything and then occasionally having a taste of what I might find.
When we go for a walk, I like to stop, drop, and roll several times even though I’m not on  fire.  I love the feel of the grass on my back as I roll in it to scratch.  Sometimes dirt will do as well.

Barton-
When I walk it may look like a need a front end alignment as I walk sideways-almost horizontally. But I just think it’s one of those special things about me that make me so adorable!
I am extremely independent which is at times very frustrating for my humans as Kathryn loves to cuddle.
I do like to play fetch with my toys but on my terms and when I want to.
I am like a wind up dog- but so adorable.

What do people, especially your humans, like best about you?
River-
I am sweet, loyal and gentle.  I give lots of good kisses.

Barton-
At times I kind of act as a weighted blanket as I will lay across their legs when we are watching tv- especially if they have a blanket across their legs.
I am adorable (I think I've mentioned that a few times).   What more do I need- they love me just for that!

What's a funny story about you?
Barton is getting used to rides in the golf cart because I used to love riding around town in our convertible.  I love the feel of the wind and breeze blowing in my hair.  I love seeing people I think everyone is out to see me because I am so adorable!

River on the other hand wants no part of the golf cart because when I was just a few months old I jumped out of same said convertible and injured my leg.  I am perfectly content leaving the rides to Barton.  It’s a solid hard pass for me and the golf cart!
