Ron is also the owner of Coastal Lighting Studio, which began with a profound love for lighting design that Ron nurtured throughout his life. As a seasoned professional, Ron observed the transformative power of light – how it can alter colors, textures, temperatures, and even moods, both inside and outside a space. Coastal Lighting Studio recognizes the importance of every detail in a project, and when it comes to lighting, they leave no stone unturned.

Why do Ron and his team get up every day to serve their clients? What keeps them going? “It’s one thing to come to work for a paycheck, but when you’re coming to work to serve those who are victims of physical or emotional violence, then it is a higher purpose than ‘I have to put food on the table, ’” Ron told us.

Ron and Beth Angner lost their daughter, Jillian, to senseless violence in 2023. The Angners started a fundraising foundation as part of their grieving process and to keep Jillian’s memory alive. “It’s hard to go to happy events and be happy for others, but it is easier for me to help others who are going through something tragic,” Ron explained to us. Jillian’s Love Lives on Foundation is funded first and foremost through serving their clients of PLAY and Coastal Lighting. The funds raised are given to organizations that focus on victims of violence from a list provided by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. Each quarter, the Angners will present a check to one of the organizations - this quarter, it was given to Hopeful Horizons. Hopeful Horizons helped Jillian in her past, and provided counseling right away for Aiden, Jillian’s young son, who tragically was present for her shooting. When you choose PLAY or Coastal Lighting, you are choosing to give back to those in our community who are victims of violence.
